I would love a low cost airline like Easyjet to start a route like BHX-EDI. I think it would defo pull in the punters.

Hi there ray and all, if it were easyJet, then all I can say is, about time they have realised that birmingham airport could do well for them, it could even spur them further to add even more routes and try to compete with the other low cost at birmingham and see what the response would be then.....AndyC.

In some ways I am happy that easyJet haven't set up in Brum.
I think you can have too much of Airlines serving the same routes and services.
We do need more capacity on some European routes I will agree, but there are still many gaps in the Euro network that need filling.
What we need is an airline that is prepared to not just fill the gaps and add capacity where it is needed, but also to be bold and perhaps add some routes that maybe even we at f4a may not have thought of.Whether that be one of our current airlines or a new one such as Primera,or,whoever remains open to debate.
What is clear is that there is a lot of demand from BHX, for both L/H and S/H.Finding an airline prepared to serve one or the other or even both is the difficult bit which I am sure R/D team is looking at right now.

Brummiegem makes a valid point. EasyJet have had umpteen opportunities over many years to establish a meaningful presence at BHX. That they haven't done so is their decision and to a large extent they have now missed the boat.

However, what did happen was that Mon and Jet2 and to a lesser extent RYR have created a substantial presence at BHX and i, for one, am mindful that had EasyJet come in we might not have had one or more of the three airlines i have mentioned. For what it offers and for the reputation it has created, i am glad that we have Mon and not EasyJet as the dominant provider.

But there is a wider point and that is i do not want to see BHX grow 'airlines' merely for the sake of it: that is in my view, unsustainable. I want the airport to grow in line with the development of the city of Birmingham and, of course, Coventry and the the increasingly important economy of the West Midlands. Organic growth will, in time, provide the airlines, routes and passengers.

We must just be patient...

Hi there thunderchild, are referring to Monarch, because there delivery of 737 nax next year for further distance flying...AndyC.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
