JetBlue could really open the door to BHX long haul. Because the aircraft carry substantially lower amounts of pax you could be looking at more diverse destinations than just NYC. This is just me thinking optimistically, as I do doubt an airline as big as JetBlue would be willing to make that much of a gamble; but as Brum X said, "This is BHX, anything can happen"

But we did have 4 airlines on Madrid which even to me is just plain silly. New York from Brum with 2 airlines should be possible.
I agree it should be possible but this time last year there were 2 airlines. In a couple of weeks there will be none.
I hope there are 2 next summer but lets see if they can thrive before wishing for more or its back to step one.

Maybe reading too much into the New York well covered comment but that may suggest JFK which would tie in nicely with the recent drip feed of Delta routes being announced. Would be ideal to have a hub served by DL and point 2 point served by Primera.

I'd be very surprised if it was Delta as I don't think as one of the US3 they would have much interest in UK regional airports. They pulled out of MAN and handed it over to Virgin.

Re monarch what's the best outcome?

Eazy lukewarm
Norwegian maybe
Wizzair can't see them doing Mediterranean.

According to a poster on prune it's double daily JFK, Boston to be announced soon on MAX's and the likes of Florida, LAX and the Caribbean on ex Air Berlin's A330s and mention of ex Air Berlin routes so maybe they won't just keep to the UK?

Great news for BHX!

Hope there is room for Monarch (or whatever they're called post purchase!) and Primera (there should be).

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
