Air Austral 787-8 F-OLRC outside the Monarch Hangar, she will be a regular sight this summer due back to Reunion Island on 3rd July after work is completed on both her engines.
Seems a very long stay. Is this an unusual kind of service for Monarch?
I would assume it is more to do with the unusual nature of the engine problems that have dogged the 787 program for a good while. MAEL seem to be able to carry out most maintenance tasks that are required both on the airframe and engines.
I must admit I'd be a bit surprised if MAEL could do detailed maintenance of the Trents without Rolls Royce people being on hand. Surely a very specialized operation?
That could be a contributing factor as to why so many airlines are being drawn to MAEL? Or that could be a completely bogus assumption and they might have absolutely nothing to do with MAEL
