I returned from a tour of Transylvania and Bucharest yesterday flying with Blue Air. Outward and inward flights were full and I and my partner were part of a group of 27 on the flight. I did not get to know everyone in the tour group ( another 22 arriving from LHR made up the entire group), but I was surprised at the makeup of the BHX departure cohort: 2 from North Devon, 1 from Cumbria, 2 from Lincolnshire, 2 from South Devon, 4 from Dorset and another 2 from Lincolnshire plus myself and my partner from Birmingham.I don't know the remainder of the group details. Most of the above stayed in local hotels due to the 10.00 hrs departure time. People will travel some distance if they have to!

How did you enjoy Romania?

Looking at their website Blue Air still haven't released anything for winter (I checked LTN too). They're leaving it rather late.

Blimey. Who was that tour arranged through.. The Young Farmers Association?

Far from it, but I see what you mean. Not a cheap six-day holiday but well worth it. Romanian tourism is on the rise and Transylvania, the richest part of Romania, is well worth a visit: stunning scenery, a number of UNESCO heritage sites, Dracula of course at Bran Castle. Bucharest airport is expanding with a similar throughput as BHX and the city is shaking off an undeserved reputation as a result of past Communist governments. I can see why it is called the Paris of Eastern Europe with its very long and wide tree-lined boulevards and, in places, impressive architecture.

Cluj has been left with just four year round Blue Air routes (Bucharest, Dublin, Liverpool and Tel Aviv) and a handful of seasonal destinations, even Luton has had the chop. Looks as if we are collateral damage once again.

Not that I expect this will have any meaning for BHX but Blue Air, along with two other associates, have bought Air Moldova.

Reported elsewhere Larnaca seemingly dropped next summer....at least we can take comfort in the fact that the route has also been cut from LTN.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
