This is a well worth watch.

It's video taken from the Leeds City Council Executive Board Meeting which was held (Wed, 19th Sep 2018 - 1:00 pm) and discusses the proposed Leeds Bradford Airport Transport Infrastructure Package.

Thanks LBAspotter. The report says pretty much what I reported above, which is a relief. I can't find any video to watch though ? I just get the report whichever link I open. It is just me??

Thanks lbaspotter, just watched it now and very interesting. Good to see that in general, the council are positive about the terminal proposals and although I understand their concerns about consultation (with regard to access strategy), again, they seem keen to move things forwards. It is such a shame our council were not so forward thinking with regard to LBA back in the 70s through to the 90s!

One thing is for certain, they need to be well prepared for 29/9/19 when the World Cycling Elite Men's race kicks off from Leeds.

Indeed Bigman, and not to mention the fact that we are told that when the electrification of the Trans Pennine route is undertaken, there will be major disruption for 4 years, to the line linking over here to MAN. Whether or not they find a diversionary route to get there, it will, without doubt, make getting to MAN much more troublesome than it already is. Hopefully by then, LBA will be better placed to take advantage of the situation.

Yes, my understanding it was just awaiting final sign off and was likely to be completed within the next month. And just for anyone who may be wondering, this is NOT an LBA inspired initiative, nor a means to force people into the drop off zone and pay. It has arisen due to negative reports from the CAA arising due to the numbers of vehicles parking on the approaches to LBA illegally or causing obstructions whilst dropping passengers off on the road rather than using the free drop off area or the £3 drop off zone.

Not quite true as I remember it! The red route was being muted at LBA by John Parkin's team a couple of years ago long before the more recent CAA audit. It never came to anything but to say it has arisen because of a CAA report is not correct.

Sorry Quik123, it is you that is incorrect and I can assure you that even the previous consideration to this by Bridgepoint, arose due to complaints within CAA reports.

Ah well, I certainly remember the staff team briefings at that time and they never included the CAA report. Perhaps they were telling one thing to those of us who worked there and another to those that don't. We'll never know.

Well I can only tell you what the new owners are saying and that was that this was a matter repeatedly raised by the CAA. As an example they complained about access to the fuel depot being blocked by vehicles parked on Whitehouse Lane, preventing tankers turning in or out, and they have also identified issues with emergency access. So, the CAA raise it as an issue, and pass it to LBA management and it is they that then take the matter up with Leeds City Council, which they have done. Eventually!

Does anyone think it will make any difference? From what I see you can paint lines of any colour but it won't stop folk stopping on the road unless there is some serious enforcement. I doubt very much if we'll see any change.

This type of restriction is usually monitored by fixed enforcement cameras with penalty tickets automatically issued in a similar way to bus lanes with enforcement cameras. So yes it should make a difference.

I think the council have installed CCTV cameras along Whitehouse Lane. There are definitely new cameras along the road that didn't used to be there. They could possibly be related to traffic enforcement?

I hope you're right. From where I work I can see Whitehouse Lane. I see no evidence of any new cameras. I see no evidence or plans to install cameras. I've only ever seen one enforcement officer, and then only very infrequently and only for a short time. As I said before I just don't think anything will change.

The main difference is that if anyone stops on a red route, it is an instant offence unless the car is broken down or there is an emergency. With double yellow lines it isn't anywhere near as strict. I cannot see the council installing a red route and then doing nothing at all to enforce it.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
