The concern I have is that they are rumoured to have now secured slots at Gatwick and we all know that when London is involved nowhere else stands a chance.

I guess it may come down to whether it's London AND Birmingham or London OR Birmingham.

We shall see :nailbiting:

Have they applied for slots at Birmingham

My money would be on Tel Aviv but unless they acquire fifth freedom rights it won’t make much difference where they stop.

EDIT: Baku it is then!

Colour me a pessimist but I fear that if this one gets off the ground it may not last very long given our record with one-stop flights.

Addendum: Of course Air India are the exception, but the stop is in the same country as the origin/destination. Seems Indigo are planning to have their stopover in a different country. How many times has that been tried over the years?

I was wanted to know if there been any news on possbile flights from Canada returning to Birmingham Airport?

Next year according to Tom Screen.

Speaking to FlightGlobal at the World Routes show in Guangzhou today, Tom Screen, Birmingham’s acting aviation director, says there might be an "option" for an alternative airline to start a New York service in summer 2019. He says it is "more likely", however, that such connections will come in 2020 when JetBlue is likely to receive deliveries of Airbus A321LRs and WestJet is also expected to be in a position to start a Toronto-Birmingham service.

Whilst this is great new for BHX, I did notice:

"The low cost carrier expects to get “double digit” A321 Neos this year and is going to start one-stop flights to the UK
where it is looking at Birmingham and London Stansted and Gatwick as the options."

Presumably the stop is Istanbul - would this be a permanent feature or just until IndiGo gets aircraft with the range to serve India - UK non stop?

I'd be happy with flights on the days Air India doesn't serve Delhi as a start!

I don't know why they need a stop over because the A321neoLR can fly from Birmingham to

Thank you. Westjet might end up using there 737 MAX & reading up on the last posts about Indigo I hope they do come to BHX even with a stop over (only because the airline does have a codesharing agreement with Turkish Airlines so Istanbul could be more then likely) but there has rumours going round that Indigo could order the A330neo. Maybe Air India will add the Boeing 777-300ER for Delhi to Birmingham (or 2 daily Delhi).

In an ideal world we'd see Indigo on Mumbai leaving Air India alone to Delhi (even though they seem determined to make a mess of it). I doubt it will work out that way though.

It would be nice to see AI to get a daily frequency back to Delhi which was doing so well. If we could also see 2/3 weekly Amritsar alongside it that would be a great bonus although with all those aircraft not currently flying I won't hold my breath.

Perhaps one for BHX to look at? I appreciate it was 'only' a couple of charter flights, but China Southern have operated BHX to Beijing before.

China Southern eyes growth with Beijing hub after strong 2018

"China Southern has earmarked the upcoming Beijing Daxing airport, which is set to open by the end of the year, as its second major hub. It is targeting to handle 40% of all passengers through the facility, and base over 200 aircraft there by 2025."

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
