Seen a few friends posting about pride on Facebook today, the city centre, parades, participants and the public turnout looks brilliant. Looks like a fantastic event that must be beneficial to Birmingham too

Birmingham City I presume, I don`t get this in denial bit as a Londoner why would I change the team I support
just because I move to another area.
Glider pilot totally agree it brings a lot of money into the coffers and hopefully brings people together

As this RANDOM STUFF, I believe Mullion should be permitted to vent his irritations so long as remains courteous and this goes for responses also.

My irritation is the stagnation of BHX generally leading to the need to having silly disputes not directly related to aviation.

Have a good Bank Holiday folks!

a particular favorite for us is the Irish Tavern on the marina the food is good but the particular pulling point seems to be on our afternoon stroll its compulsory to call in for a pint for me and a slice of cheesecake

I wish we'd visited here on the last night rather than the second. I think I ended up spending more Euro's on cheesecake than I did on booze :)

Seems Mrs Finkle has got hers in order by investing other peoples euros, a bit like our household !
Lol

P.S. wait until the kids grow up then your really stuffed.

Boeing going through a real rough patch at the minute, 737 Max still grounded, news coming out of wing cracks on 737NGs and Maxs, and now news coming out about potential brake and nose wheel steering failures on Dreamliners

Interesting to see what pans out over the coming months

Coventry City have confirmed that they will be playing their home games at St Andrews for the 2019/20 season.

I don't know the ins and outs of the what has gone on but I really do feel for the Cov supporters, I think a few seasons ago they were playing their home games in Northampton. I've never been to the Ricoh but it looks a decent stadium and considering that it was built for Coventry City it's such a shame that they are now in this situation.

"What the landlord requested of CCFC’s owners and ultimately, the Club, was simply not deliverable. It can be argued that the landlord was fully aware of this."

Suggests that the football club believes the landlord was deliberately easing out the football club. When Wasps RFC (through Wasps Holdings Ltd) bought the ground it was always going to be difficult for Coventry City to maintain a long-term relationship. Wasps have become the rugby version of MK Dons, who are often referred to as 'The Franchise' amongst football followers.

Traditionally Wasps played at Sudbury, north-west London, their home for most of the last century. They became tenants of QPR in west London for a few years from the mid 1990s and then moved to Adams Park, High Wycombe the home of Wycombe Wanderers FC. In 2014 they purchased the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and reverted to plain 'Wasps' from 'London Wasps', a name they had taken on at the end of the 1990s.

There is a sort of parallel in reverse with Bristol RFC, now known as Bristol Bears (don't ask, I don't like the name). They owned the Memorial Ground (now fancifully called the Memorial Stadium) throughout the 20th Century. At the same time Bristol Rovers were effectively thrown out of their traditional home at Eastville Stadium (now an IKEA), east Bristol, and in 1986 moved to Bath City's ground at Twerton Park, where they played their home matches for ten years.

In the mid 1990s Rovers moved back to Bristol and became tenants of Bristol RFC at the Memorial Ground, north Bristol. Within a few years the rugby club found itself in dire straits financially and its company was dissolved. By means of (at the time) a little known clause in the arrangement Rovers were able to purchase the Memorial Ground for a song and the rugby club then became tenants of theirs.

A few years later Bristol RFC was purchased by Steve Lansdown, a local billionaire-owner of Bristol City and other local sports clubs, who in 2015 moved his rugby club to Bristol City's ground at the newly revamped Ashton Gate stadium in south-west Bristol. It was controversial because north Bristol had always been Bristol RFC's heartland. In the event the crowds have flocked to Ashton Gate.

So things turned out well for both Bristol RFC and Bristol Rovers in the end. Let's hope a similar story eventually emerges for Coventry City.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
