Air India has been allocated rights to operate nearly 20,000 weekly seats to Hong Kong, Dubai, Qatar, Singapore and the UK that were previously used by Jet Airways.
Civil aviation minister of state Hardeep Singh Puri disclosed the rights awards to Air India and its Air India Express unit in a written question to India's Rayja Sabha, which are temporary until the end of the 2019 scheduling season.

Probably means they may add a Manchester route in the near future and extra Heathrow Delhi and Mumbai routes soon

I guess that would mean that Air India will take on at least some of Jet Airways fleet and staff.

Air India are staring Direct Flights from Kolkata to Dubai sadly on an A321 even thought Emirates flies twice daily 777-300ER’s to Kolkata. I’m glad Air India are starting more International routes from Kolkata hopefully Birmingham Direct to Kolkata & Mumbai soon :giggle:

I’m confident BOM will be served at BHX irrelevant of Pax at MAN
It will and must be served NOW .We need to bring some Bollywood to Birmingham ASAP guys (I am one of the Biggest Bollywood Fans here :geek:) it’s time to watch a few Bollywood Movies and learn some Songs and master some Dance moves Guys . We should should call the route and advertise it as The Bollywood Express .

I get the feeling that direct flights to BOM are now a 'when' rather than 'if'.

Aviation in India is having it's issues at the moment and with the potential for Iranian airspace to be added into the mix 'when' is anybodies guess.

Nick Barton was in India last month speaking with two airlines, lets hope that he had some success.

So is BOM the potential new route being suggested on the routes and rumors thread going east?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
