Given that airports are now asking for bail outs now I'm worried about jobs and LBA's future.

It'll be a tough time to come for many UK airports but Leeds Bradford does have Jet2 well established there so it's future should be secure, other airports though sadly don't have the security of a partner like them.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the airport's jinxed ? We get within a whisper of some great news then covid 19 hits followed, no doubt, by what they are saying will be the largest global recession in a century. It defies belief. Senior staff come and go...all promising fabulous things, before they mysteriously disappear into the ether, with someone else coming in, equally positive. It's darn ground hog day again. We just need some good luck for a change. Given that airports are now asking for bail outs now I'm worried about jobs and LBA's future.

Ive always thought LBA is jinxed! Its happened over many decades numerous times due to a whole range of different things, sometimes bizarre! Its like we just cant get over the final hurdle because if we ever did then LBA Would become the airport we want! Leeds utd has similar bad luck too!

Completely agree ...Leeds is the only major city without a premier league team ...its astonishing ...and darn Manchester and Liverpool have two. With regard AMP no financial investment company ( and particularly one rellying on south East Asia and Australasia) is going to have an easy ride...as the stock markets are showing. After we finish with this awful virus a whole new financial landscape will emerge.

If companies like AMP don't invest in new devl like they plan to do at LBA then the world will continue to be in a rut! I'm aware this covid-19 is grim but it puts us in the best possible position if amp get the go ahead!

Going ahead with the development is actually going to be a perfect time to steal a March on its rival airports, especially with a partner like Jet2. There will be airports who suffer far worse than LBA. This is not be being flippant because we cannot get away from the severity of it. But we will come out of it with an eventual stronger and healthier industry

My guess, and I am not in the know as none of us are, that as long as we all behave with social distancing etc. then there is a chance of some resumptions in early June. That may be slightly optimistic but there are a few positive signs, even though we are far from out of the woods with this. I will say again, we cannot under estimate the severity of it all

When we said goodbye to 2019 on new years eve and welcomed in 2020 who would of thought the year would bring this! I myself had a great start to the year plus we had the fantastic LBA news in jan which i was pretty excited about, but then march came and in just a couple of weeks everyones lifes changed! I still believe its beneficial for LBA to get its new terminal and im sure it will happen though

I have to admit I saw footage on YouTube back in Early January well before the press were reporting on it here. The footage showed the shutdown in Wuhan and associated problems for their medical care. I said to the Mrs, that's coming here, there are hundreds of flights from China to around the world. It will never be stopped. I couldn't have been more right.

Looking into the future, looking at China now, there is hope and we will get through this. It's been making me think about how we will exit this crisis. My thoughts point towards regional airports such as Leeds Bradford been less effected than those with longer international flights. The reason for this is because the disease has spread at different speeds around the globe and this is likely going to effect the lifting of restrictions or peoples willingness to travel to certain destinations. Most of Europe entered the pandemic at around the same time, the restrictions are likely to be lifted at a similar time. For the same reason, some other parts of the world such as parts of Africa, South America and Asia will remain locked down for longer prolonging the return to normality.

So to summarise, basically I think airports with healthy European routes will recover quicker than route further afield. It is inevitable all airports will see a downturn due to the economic impact of the coronavirus but LBA should fair better than most here in the UK primarily because of its reliance on European flights.

The ones that will recover the quickest will be those with many domestic flights. The UK domestic market will recover well before international. The one downside is no Flybe so very reliant on others to fill the void. Will there be free peak time slots at LHR for an LBA night stopper I wonder! Pax may be happier with 130 others on a plane rather than 500 others on a train! What I do know is things will feel very different for a long time to come and travel habits will change. In fact a lot of habits may change

Im a frequent traveler to the Alicante and Benidorm area as my parents and I have a place there. On the facebook Benidorm page the sheer amount of people that are wanting to return there after covid-19 dies away is incredible, in fact the word going round is that everyone needs to take a holiday and party to get all the hotels and businesses back on their feet and from what I can see a lot are changing their bookings to later in the year and many booking flights, although there is a part of me that thinks we should help the coastal resorts here in the uk as well! So yes the regional airports that mainly fly to the med resorts I feel should be ok and soon pick up after this virus goes.

A friend of mine living in France is of the opinion that the French Government will do just that. Open France up but only to those living within its border. Schengen is now dead, so they can do it. It has been rumoured on the Fuerteventura FB sites already, that the Spanish Government is seriously considering this as well. I would think our`s will also consider going down the same route, if the others do. However we are the biggest operator in Europe for `bucket and spade` airlines and airports which might bring a different perspective. Finger 66 is right..things will be different for a long time to come..

The tourist chiefs for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura yesterday wrote off 2020 as non existant for tourist trade. Sad

All these ex flybe Q400 turboprops just sat around now doing nothing, anyone fancy starting up an LBA based airline with them flying to key European airports? just a thought!

Certainly a case of doing plenty of homework then, how the economy will end up and looking into the future at who will survive and who sadly might fail. On the fun side though i think i would call my airline "LBA Connect" and the 2 routes i would most certainly fly to first for both biz and leisure pax would be belfast city and london city airports.

Perhaps you could teach/train your own pilots fight2win. LCY is quite an expensive airport to operate in/out. BHD an absolute winner if no one grabs it first.
