Quite laughable reading the posts about the protests that are planned and the one that already was staged outside Leeds city hall (which I saw no posts about or headline news articles) LOL, it’s crazy to see how many negative news articles they’re on the airport compared to support.. anybody know a way to get more positive press articles into the newspapers? Or is that just more of LBA PR team jobs?

people saying DSA is going to become the primary airport.. please.. (no offence to any DSA supporters, as I do support both airports) but DSA will never be the primary airport for yorkshire, the economy and businesses within the leeds region will simply go to Manchester (as they do now).. but they would much rather fly from Leeds. Doncaster could never.

reading the objections comment just anger and annoy me, the objectors who most dont live in the area have nothing better to do and do not know all the facts on this proposal.

this development is the best and probably only opportunity in history LBA to become a major player/competitor in the airport world.

i hope the protests planned this weekend flop (like the ones outside leeds city hall) with everything currently going on in the world regarding Covid / USA protests and now in the UK the XR need to get a grip on society and what’s important right now in the world instead of police resources now having to monitor what’s going on regarding the airport..

(sorry for the rants, I’ve currently had 10 friends and family write support comments) hopefully get a few more at the weekend.

I understand the genuine need for the human population of this planet to look after it. It’s seen by most establishments that carbon emissions need to be reduced if not nullified for us to have a genuine future.

However, I like most of you rational people understand that this cannot be achieved instantaneously! The consequences of any such actions would have serious implications, cuts within all industries to facilitate the beliefs of the few ER would be disastrous to our economy and therefore our way of life. I cannot say for sure, but I would imagine without a stable economy the unemployment rate would soar, the benefit system would buckle under pressure, NHS along with other social services would collapse, crime would increase and so on... It’s a snapshot of a future reality born from the few mindless individuals who would, if they had the opportunity gladly impose onto us.

The way the aviation industry completes its transition to be carbon neutral is by investing in future technology, Creating the ability to be carbon neutral. We must have a profitable, robust industry that has the ability to invest the same way the automotive industry is doing.

We only need to be given the chance to succeed.

They won't be happy until aircraft are grounded and airports shut down. They have already said staff working at LBA should be relocated into different areas of employment. They just dismiss people's entire career choices. Pilots for example invest a lot of money to train up but ER would quite happily end their careers tomorrow. Meanwhile the top 9 polluting industries barely get a mention

A LBA park and ride railway station linking the Leeds region and beyond into a new state of the art eco friendly terminal to rival any other european airport is a dam site better than a gridlocked and polluted 1hr30mins (or longer)of hell on the M62 to MAN!
It really is a fantastic development for LBA and will transform the airport for ever taking us out of this rut the airports always been in, if LCC dont see this then something is seriously wrong!

I agree, it is real, but ER are far too focussed on aviation which they seem to see as a soft target. When did we last see them staging sit ins, lie downs and other nonsense to close down shipping ports, cruise lines, clothing factories, cement works, ban gas boilers or shut down power stations, all of which emit far more CO2 than aviation. Why their indiscriminate targeting of all airport schemes ?

There is no reasoning to their objections. In the greater scheme of things LBAs terminal makes such a tiny difference to aviation yet, it sets the standard for terminal buildings which others will be expected to follow in terms of carbon neutrality, and let's not forget LBAs offer to embark on tree planting to offset the additional aircraft emissions.

None of this bothers ER. They just want aviation stopped by whatever means they can, including manufacturing their so called evidence to try and get the outcome they want. Refusal to consider both sides to a story and a structured and gradual reduction in emissions that doesn't ruin entire industries are the actions of fanatics.

It has become apparent since the submission however, a certain amount of misinformation and misrepresentation of the facts contained in the application has been circulated. Funny isn't it that although I wrote to my Lib Dem councillor telling him that what he had circulated was misleading and untrue with regard to LBA, he tried to justify it, and he has not issued this to clarify the situation on his weekly update yesterday. It was his mis-information that I forwarded to LBA and which, I suspect, led in part to them issuing this. If the Councillor doesn't issue this like Cllr Anderson has, them I think he has given a pretty solid clue as to his leanings with regards to the terminal. Just like the Lib Dem MP candidate, opposed to it. It would be so nice to have a local MP and Councillors for once that supports the biggest employer in their constituency, just for once.

I know exactly what you mean WH, It would be great to have a local MP that realises the airport is a major asset and uses the airport to their advantage by promoting its growth and wanting it to expand to create more employment, plus an airport a bit like a successful football club is a great advertising tool to the world! For eg when I mention Yeadon to people distant from here, they always say "oh that's where the airport is"
It would also appear that very few MPs and leaders have even studied the plans and realised LBA have a good product with an eye on the environment! Its either that or they just cant handle the truth that LBA have a very good proposals, so they make up any c**** to try stop the expansion

Heard any news or comments from MP's councillors etc in places like York, Harrogate, Bradford, etc who do not have a say in what LCC votes on yet that decision has a big impact on them. A favourable decision will be a better airport and improved services which will benefit all in their areas. Tourism will benefit as well as business and yet who vote for them will largely be unaffected by any minimal increase in noise and who you would think would say -yes I want a 'state of the art' new airport, bring it on, why not. So those 'few' councillors for Leeds have a big decision to make for which they have a responsibility for many beyond the Leeds city boundary.

As previously posted, I am not from Leeds, or West Yorkshire but is my choice of airport because the other 2 airports "local" to me, just do not have the services. (unless you want cargo or go to the rigs).

Certain people will hear between 1 and 50 extra flights at at 'night' .. that's one wide range! ... and the latest is because it's owned by an Australian company - so the expansion would be OK if it was owned by some property outfit based in the UK? There is the "we need to fly less" argument too, but all that will happen is folks will drive over to Manchester and fly from there.

The airport submission says by 2030, if 7m passengers per year is achieved, there would be an expected 10 extra movements in the night time period including late evening and early morning, so probably 5 inbound and 5 outbound next morning but this would be summer only in all probability.

If someone does go on Look North, that document just about provided the perfect summary of the key facts. I sincerely hope All LCC take note. It also confirms just about everything we have been saying on this forum.
