Probably with new rules having not to isolate from amber countries from mid July they will run their original planned schedule so on need to fill gaps with routes like jersey.

Flights from Wales to Alicante, Corfu, Faro, Heraklion, Palma de Mallorca, Larnaca and Tenerife that were to begin 30 July have been cancelled.

The CEO is quoted in the article about it starting! Very frustrating especially as CWL needs the positive pr of them starting and not people questioning whether they'll start or not. Was thinking of looking to book with them but guess that won't happen for this year.

There’s something strange going on here.

In one breath the base is all ready for opening on 30 July, then no flights on sale until April 2022.

And as Jerry says, this is potentially bad press for the whole of CWL if this base launch is delayed yet again!

At the moment we can only hope it's a glitch in the system but i do know several of the Wizz UK aircraft have been working in the EU for Wizz. With the UK government chopping and changing the green list maybe Wizz have decided the aircraft is better off working in the EU until 2022.

My immediate thought was a glitch in the Wizz system. It beggars belief that just a few hours after the Wizz UK managing director is quoted in a press report confirming the base will open this summer they then decide that it won't.

The only caveat to that is that the interview might have been given before the UK government removed the Balearics from their green list. Whilst that only applies to England it's unlikely that the rest of the UK won't broadly do the same. The uncertainty about the status of other routes might have led to a decision to delay the CWL base opening until next spring although I still favour the glitch theory as the most likely.

I’ve read on Wales Online (not 100% trusted) that Wales will follow the actions taken in England regarding foreign travel.

I hope it’s a glitch and could be related to schedule changes rather than anything else.

Really disappointing and from the comments I've seen the Welsh government seem to be blamed for it.
Let's hope that in April 2022 things are normal enough for them to start.
