Also from elsewhere TUI are still awaiting seven 737s from various sources plus having two 787s stuck in maintenance which seems odd to say the least given peak season is rapidly approaching.

Wasn't my post by any chance Rollo on another forum, that you got this information from?

"You do have question TUIs planning since the summer season kicked off from the start of May:-

B789 SE-RFZ operated 01/05/22 - 11/05/22, now in Amman for maintenance
B788 G-TUIH at Luton on maintenance (10/05/22)

B738 G-FDZZ returned from Sunwing lease 07/05/22, at St Athan, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TAWD returned from Sunwing lease 14/05/22, at Gatwick, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TAWM returned from Sunwing lease 24/04/22, at St Athan, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TAWN returned from Sunwing lease 12/05/22, at Birmingham, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TAWO returned from Sunwing lease 05/05/22, at Brussels, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TAWP returned from TUI Fly Germany lease 28/04/22, at St Athan, not yet re-entered service
B738 G-TUKP returned from Sunwing lease 26/04/22, at Gatwick, not yet re-entered service

You have to question why the 787 maintenance couldn't have been done in April, and why its taking so long to get the 738s above back in service?"

G-TUIH arrived back at Birmingham from Luton yesterday evening, led to believe if has been re-configured for short haul operations only, and an extra 21 seats added to it

G-TAWM was flown St Athan to Manchester yesterday afternoon, and re-entered service Tuesday evening.

The TUI merry-go-round round continues.

One 737 Max position toCardiff.
One 737 Max position to Stuggart.
One 788 position to Gatwick.
One 789 position to Manchester.

Also the Air Tanker A332 showed as operating to Dalaman.

Info from Ian's bhxmovementsblog.

Definitely the 80s/90s livery!
I'm still unsure what you mean by the '80s/90s livery'. The 'blue and red' colour scheme was still in use in the early 80's, whilst the 90's featured the white top with the multiple blue/red stripes on the lower fuselage (my least favourite Britannia livery and won't look much different on a B787 than it did on a B767).

The white top with the blue/red stripes, I think the earlier livery you mentioned was before my time! When I flew Britannia back in the day I had one of the special Britannia Lego sets you could buy off the duty free trolly - I wasn’t allowed to open it on the plane though incase I lost the pieces!

The TUI merry-go-round is puzzling me. According to FR24 TUI B787-8 (G-TUII, TOM975P), arrives from BRS at 06:48. Whilst B787-8 (G-TUIC, TOM976P) positions from BHX to BRS at 07:15. What on earth is the purpose of that, other than if the aircraft were due in for STS? Or, is one in 'long range' and the other in 'short range' configuration?

Kevin

The Wamos A330 arrived overnight from Belfast and is down to operate Palma and Papos today according to the movements blog.
Regarding the 788 swap with Bristol I think both aircraft are in long haul configuration so if it happens can't really fathom a reason can't see it being STS. unless it's unscheduled maintenance.

Over the last few days TUI seemed to have settled down a bit at BHX but seem to be "at it" again today.

For something completely different I noticed while looking at the BHX movementsblog there were a pair of AH64 Apaches in yesterday afternoon.

Also, G-TUID is currently en route to BHX from NCL…

NCL-BHX is a regular weekly positioning flight, so the aircraft can be based at BHX to operate to Cancun (Wed), Orlando MLB (Thu) before positioning back to NCL Friday morning.

No idea why G-TUIC & G-TUII swapped between BHX & BRS, but G-TUII did the morning Palma flight, arriving back at 15:00 and hasn't moved since, with the Wamos A330 operating the Paphos flight. Are TUI short of 788 crew?

meanwhile at Manchester, 767 G-OBYF has gone tech, delaying Malaga & Cape Verde by at least 24 hours, Cardiff has had a tech Sunwing 738 since yesterday, hence the Tuesday Zakynthos flight has been delayed till Thursday to name just one delayed flight, Exeter also suffering with a tech TUI 738, still trying to play catch up 24 hours later, & all this with TUI still woefully short of aircraft, G-TUIF, SE-RFZ still in maintenance, G-TAWD, G-TAWN, G-TAWP still not yet re-entered service.

You have to feel sorry for all the passengers being messed about by TUI at present, lets hope they can get themselves sorted quickly, else its going to be a very long summer for them & their customers.

TUI having a nightmare today with their operations.

As already mentioned, the morning Alicante & Ibiza flight was combined on the World2fly A359, and the afternoon flights to Antalya and Kos now delayed around 24 hours till Sunday:-

Saturday 11th June
Flying To Airline Flight no. Scheduled Details
Antalya Tui TOM 758 14:05 Delayed until 12th 1410
Kos Tui TOM 7650 16:30 Delayed until 12th 1525

and Sundays TOM7722 to Paphos is NOT showing on the TUI departures on their website, has this flight been cancelled or delayed until Monday?

add to the that one of the spare 737s at BHX was then used to operate the MAN-SZG-MAN flight with the MAN passengers being bussed to BHX and back!

I presume the issues are lack of crew? Does anyone know if it lack of pilots, or lack of cabin crew?

It's only just occurred to me...last to the game, that Tui's flight numbers are four digits for EU flights and three digits for outside the EU. Anyone know the reason? Or is that the reason lol

Cheers in advance

Old days of Britannia I have no doubt. Or accountancy - all accountants have manipulated the way airlines do things now! It could well be to do with accountants.

I remember that Thomson/TUI used to have flight numbers by bases (2 for BHX as an example), Thomas Cook/JMC/Airtours used to operate with the same number adding K/L to indicate to/from UK.

Privilege Style 757 EC-HDS has been operating for TUI since tuesday.

the livery is actually quite similar to Britannia, apropos of the discussion above :)
