I appreciate this is the Leeds Jet2 thread but they are getting in a real mess at BHX besides positioning flights from Leeds over the last couple of weeks or so they are regularly moving aircraft from/to Manchester (including 757s), East Midlands, Glasgow and I think Bristol and there was even a positioning flight from Munich for some reason.

They need to sort it somehow before it impacts across the network, easier said than done as TUI have found out.

@rollo Munich was following a medical divert at night. German airports on the whole have strict night closures which have to be adhered to. Depending on the severity of the medical airlines, majority of airlines, do not like the crew to continue due to what the cabin crew will have experienced and been through. Easier for example for largest of our airlines to cancel and re-jig the customers about on other flights along with with the crew. That's not Jet2 they are literally the airline that says "no man/women left behind". Munich was to pick the passengers up. The crew who did the original flight then came back empty bringing the aircraft back into the fold.

Given it was a medical divert, quite late on at night, they diverted unable to depart.

I think Jet2 are perfectly fine tbh - they seem to never struggle with aircraft availability and somehow always make it work.

Most of what we've seen today will be mopping up yesterdays left overs.

Thanks for the info regarding the Munich Diversion 👍

Regarding Jet2s current issues its been going on most days throughout June from BHX not just today with some flights operating via East Midlands, Bristol, and including apparently Leeds yesterday so not exactly convenient for passengers but as you say at least they get there.

I'm sure Jet2 will get it sorted their track record shows that but with the summer peak approaching it needs to be done pronto especially as families will be paying through the nose or the market rate depending how you view it come the school holidays.

I think these remain quite concerning times for the industry as a whole. If things are not sorted quickly, if we think things are a bit of a shambles right now, as has already been stated the July and August peak could be far worse. What does concern me here is are Jet2 over-stretching themselves. They have always been the ones to come up smelling of roses from various industry set-backs but if all is to be believed then it appears they too are struggling just now. The whole travel and tourism industry needs to get back on an even keel ASAP. The pent up demand is outweighing supply just now and providing the completely wrong customer experience. Poorly managed Government handling of pandemic has meant a very very difficult recovery time frame for suppliers but travellers don’t see that - they just expect their holiday or business trip to happen as they want. Some challenging times ahead for many.............

Am I correct in thinking the 733s will be retired after W22 has finished? If so, am I correct in thinking LBA will become exclusively 738?
Some of them aren't that old for 733's so can't imagine why they would retire them until their useful life has expired and certainly not until aircraft are available to replace them.

Articles clearly fake news. To replace 7 300’s they need 7 800’s. Plus growth. So unless they are hunting for 7 A321 CEO’s to replace the 737-800’s from Manchester they are around for a lot longer.

It also states “from 2023” - meaning they may start reducing from 7 to 6, then to 4 then all gone. Who knows the plan. It’s common for airlines to retire aircraft right before D checks.
