Anyone know why Emirates 30 Heathrow to Dubai routed North and landed in Glasgow?
Heathrow departures show going to Dubai as did FR 24 and nothing on Glasgow arrivals

So it's expected to be announced expansion at LHR and LGW today, as part of the government's growth plan.

My two thoughts are, will there be any benefits to the regions with this ? I imagine they really want to increase more overseas passengers and probably not really thinking about domestic. My next thought is, is this best way to.boost the UK economy, hopefully there is more to come.

I suspect nothing north of Luton and as for this rail link Cambridge to Oxford what about Liverpool to Hull/ Newcastle they will take any monies to pay for southern lines

Big announcement for the north is the Old Trafford redevelopment.

I doubt there will be benefits to the regions as Heathrow already has the flights that are sustainable too them.
As for the economy it'll give it a boost but not as much as the Chancellor is banking on i suspect.

Trafford is MAN U because their ground is falling apart and the area is already a terrible area to drive round or public transport

The area around that will get government investment as part of it.

I think the rail link Oxford to Cambridge is being rebuilt now

There was a plan to have a spur for HS2 to Heathrow, that got cut ages ago, as did the link beyond Birmingham. Personally I'm not that pro HS2, it's very costly when so many lines are still diesel. Take Crewe, Chester to Holyhead...all diesel. Down to Cornwall, The Chiltern line , all Diesel. Electrifying lines like these would speed up travel and cut emissions .

According to an interview on R4, the previous head of Heathrow, said he believed, the 3rd runway there would and should re connect the regions of the UK, who are now frequently flying via Amsterdam. This has been the case for many years as slots have been lost for domestic in favour of international links from Heathrow.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
