MAN-BOM has been a big hole ever since Jet Airways went bust, and Virgin didn't go through with launching it.

I wouldn't be surprised, in a couple of years time, to see both Virgin and Air India (maybe even Indigo as well if they order widebodies!)

Virgin are starting to their feet again, and logically once more aircraft come we should see BOM/DEL after LAX.

Bangalore/Bengaluru wouldn't be a bad shout either from Air India. Nice city with a growing tech sector. 2-3 weekly once we get DEL/BOM up to daily?

I wouldnt expect to see Bengaluru connected , its not a city with much in the way of tourist draw. We have just exhibited there , which was a nightmare because the exhibition centre is at one side of the city with no hotels. Metro not built, so 4 hours taxi ride each way to hotel. You wouldn't go there for a holiday, and you need that sector as well for such a route.

I think Homeland Security are also not prioritising preclearance as we see little development in the programme. It would be a useful addition at LHR and LGW given the volume of US traffic, though LHR is not realistic.

It's a shame we don't have 12 US routes now. I'm not sure US pre-clearance is on the agenda as a priority at least for the time being given the much reduced US flights. But circumstances and technology have changed anyway so personally I'd be surprised if it were to happen for the foreseeable.

Just wonder what impact Dublin's pre-clearance has had on the demise of US Carriers at Manchester.

This years summer DUB peak had daily AA to CLT, PHL, DFW & ORD, DL to BOS, JFK & ATL, UA to 2xEWR, IAD & ORD.

It could have been us?

I completely agree, it was included in their transformation plans and stated as a priority alongside Heathrow Madrid and others. Whether they will re visit it I don't know but the plans were there. Even saw an article published December last year about Edinburgh and Manchester was still listed as getting it. One can't help but think though if it were to happen the positive impact it would have on US flights.

It wasn`t going to happen either at LHR or MAN, Heathrow has 5 terminals with US flights and the government won`t allow weapons to be carried by non UK security so that wipes both airports out also the cost was astonishing and to be honest the number of pax doesn`t support it

Sorry to pick up on the weapons comment but what have they got to do with anything? Any weapons are illegal anyway and you'd be getting pre- clearance to enter the US so any weapons wouldn't make it on to an aircraft. However MAG are still talking regarding pre clearance as of Dec 22 and there's been no communication in regards to them pulling out like there was with AMS. LHR aren't interested in pre clearance and DUB seem to be handling it extremely well and EDI are definitely going to benefit from it. Why can't MAN?

Is there any proof EDI is getting preclearance? The passenger figures are very seasonal and the majority of passengers US citizens. Even in summer it is only number 4 in UK-US figures. There is no based airline there and it would be unlikely to encourage interlining from within Europe. Seems like a bad investment to me which would be paid for by the airport and therefore passengers.

It would be interesting to know why LGW and MAN have apparently gone cold on the idea.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
