But driving a car in all other circumstances with an expired MOT also invalidates the cars insurance as in theory its not safe to drive, so its a double whammy if your caught!
To add my 2 pence worth, to be fair, a car is only roadworthy from an MOT perspective on the date of the MOT. IT could be a fail the day after! I have seen loads of cars presented for MOT with a list of fails as long as your arm, which were dangerous and smacks of lack of maintenance. Just because you have a valid MOT certificate it can still classed as unroadworthy and be subject to an insurance claim being turned down if that was the case, as it is the drivers duty to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy condition.

And for those of us with MOT exempt vehicles, we still have to be sure they comply with MOT standards.

Thinking logically here, which TUI don't always appear to do where LBA is concerned, some automatic diverts would send quite a clear message that they do have a problem with LBA. So to support/protect/advertise their continued small future offering to LBA it makes commercial sense to operate as scheduled - where conditions allow. Plus diverts do cost money, regardless of any bias they clearly currently possess

One thing that was notable was that this arrival on 14 used the entire runway to slow down and it turned round at the very end, despite a dry runway. It was almost as though they were worried about braking too hard. I wonder why?
The runway is there to use and I am not a fan of maximum braking/full reverse thrust throwing one forward against the lap belts if it's not necessary . Came back from Spain - can't remember where - maybe one of the Islands many years ago when Thompson, as was then, I believe had the base, on a 757. 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning if I recall correctly - no heavy braking and no reverse thrust just rolled to the end of 33! Saved the brakes and some stress on the pylons etc. and probably didn't wake Rodney and Co. :ROFLMAO:

33 & 15 that takes me back. When was the runway designation changed to 32/14, I thought it was when extended but could be wrong and I am sure 757-200s didnt land before the extension?

No it was for sure after the extension - might well have been 32 - same runway whenever it was changed!

I note that KLM have cancelled the late afternoon and late evening arrivals into LBA (also the corresponding arrivals into Teesside and Humberside) Seem to be having problems with the wind at EHAM. (Finger 66??)

The runway changed to 14/32 on 4th November 1984, the day the extension officially opened, and prior to that Britannia Airways never operated 757s into LBA, only 737 200s. In fact I believe the only 757 to land on the short runway 33 was G-MOND of Monarch, and as I recall, it was empty when it landed.

Yes - the event was more memorable than the date! Definitely post extension so '32'

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
