Use this prefix for new threads for Cardiff Airport
i cant fathom why nobody has not picked up Jersey
I can only guess that because the only real option Blue Islands operates to Bristol and thinks that's sufficient. It definitely would be nice to see it return.

Posted on another forum that it doesn't appear CWL are on the attendee list for Routes Worldwide in Turkey this month. Very disappointing if that is the case.

Yes that is disappointing, i wonder why they decided not to attend?

As it's in Turkey is it a missed opportunity to pitch to airlines like Correndon and Sun Express for flights and even if there's not a stand hopefully there will be a delegation engaging with people at the event.

Well I think this article all but rules out Emirates coming to Leeds/Bradford anytime soon according to the airline's president Sir Tim Clark.

However, he said the lack of government support for the regions meant some airports, like Cardiff and Leeds Bradford, “are struggling”. “There was a seismic shift in de-industrialisation with the Thatcher era, and things did not get plugged in to replace.”

Interesting comment from the president of Emirates here post here in the LBA forum.

Just wondering if the specific mentioning of Cardiff could indicate engagement between the airline and the airport. It's interesting that he was specific with 2 airports.

Used as examples of struggling airports. Personally I wouldn't look too much into it.

Leeds Bradford though isn't struggling, well i personally wouldn't consider it struggling.

Would be nice to think they may consider resuming the Cardiff to Barcelona route

Considering how seamless transfers are at BCN with Vueling, CWL would benefit with access to the hub.

Would be great to see Barcelona back as a destination and as well with it being a hub for them that adds inward and onwards connectivity. Can only hope Cardiff is on their radar.

Well for what it's worth BC (before COVID) Ryanair and Vueling tried this route and both were dropped. From what I recall they were popular so I can't remember why they didn't continue with them. Anyone shed light on this?

Well the route was going well until Vueling changed the times, it was 5 weekly with them. Ryanair took it over but Covid killed it.

There was an article last year about building relations between wales and Catalonia. It gives me some confidence that we might see something soon. But given the rough news recently I’m not counting on it.

Routes which wld be great:

All Year
Paris CDG, Toulouse or Bordeaux
Barcelona
Rome, Verona or Venice

Winter
Turin
Grenoble
Geneva

Dreams, eh!

At the moment it does seem like the only hope of growth is too come on the holiday side from Ryanair and TUI. I'd settle for Palma de Mallorca for Summer 2025 at the moment!

The Catalonians were protesting frequently about the volume of tourists visiting Barcelona. Since then a lot of UK airports have seen a reduction in flights there. I'm not too sure if that is due the the influence of these protests or other factors.

I saw this on Facebook too. I guess we'll just have to watch this space to see if anything comes from this Facebook post

Someone mentioned elsewhere that the airport management were spotted going to Dublin not so long ago. It's a case of fingers crossed for good news!

Perhaps they will visit again when the six nations takes place in 3 weeks, and hopefully come back with some good news.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
