Just currently in the departure lounge as i write this, a new record for me as i was through security in 1 minute, no joke! No queue, bag and fone straight on tray, body scanned and done! My flights the 17.05 ryanair to ALC so im like the last of the afternoon rush so guess thats why im through security so fast, departure lounge rammed as expected.
On arrival managed to speak to a friendly guy on the terminal construction site, a tipper truck had just arrived so he kept the security gate open for me so i could take a few clear shots.
In the second picture you can see the steel been delivered on the hgv low loader and its also laid on the ground. Its a large development for sure, the construction guy told me the size of the extension will be all the way to the jcb and steel truck you can see in the pic!
Update, 1hr30min delay! Things were going too well haha

Used the airport at half term and therefore experienced the new security scanners.

Really great... Automated tray delivery/return, dedicated bays per passenger, fully conveyor and of course no need to remove liquids/laptops.

Top class and a great experience. A real upgrade comparable to anything else worldwide.

I got back from Lanzarote a week ago today and have not reported in because I have been reacclimatising myself to the numpty environment when we flew back into LBIA.
We flew out three weeks prior arriving at airport 0310, no Fast Pass and straight into the new Security practices. Two belts/scanners working and, apart from being gee'd up to get into the correct Star Jump position in the body scanner, everything went like a dream. Through and having breakfast by 0330. Off on time, great flight, landing 10 minutes early. Bussed to terminal, straight through Security and exited 30 minutes later on to the transfer to resort.
On return arrived LBIA a couple of minutes early then sightseeing tour down the terminal towards Horsforth. "Parked nose in on first bay facing Fuel tanks ? much to the surprise of all but the man with the wheel chocks.
An interesting and new experience.
10 minute wait for the buses, breezed through Border Control and then the rot set in.

Baggage area clogged with families mainly standing by the carousels with buggies etc. and lots of kids fooling about elsewhere causing chaos. This all arose because the Faro flight came in after ours but offloaded to the terminal and their bags went onto the same carousel as ours.
The current restriction in the baggage collection process should be a glaringly obvious reason for GALBA support for a new terminal if only to reduce the unnecessary CO2 emissions from the vast majority of passengers fuming at the current inadequacies using the airport. 45 minutes later we were heading home.
Here Enders the rant.

Arrived at airport at 06:00. 3 scanners in operation, queued for 5 minutes at security. Plenty of seats upstairs. Only criticism- neither the escalator nor lift to 1st floor was working.

Also..I noted an overflow area has been opened for free drop off/pick up.

Didn't see any issues liquids wise. But an awful lot of bags going to secondary screening in our party of 3 2 went to secondary but then just handed back.
Too many bags being pulled for secondary screening everyday. Either a flaw in system or staff not properly trained. Staff just not proactive enough dealing with bag scanning. More staff definitely needed or deployed quickly to deal with backlog of bags

As I stated we had no problems at all on Friday, everything running like clockwork, however I reported on a trip in late April (at which time only new 2 scanners were working) and at that time bags, including ours were going back for re-scanning frequently. I was told it was because not all scans were 'good' and therefore I assume hard to interpret.

My assumption was that since April the security staff had honed their skills and everything was now ok.

I also assumed the BHX issue was simply part of that airports learning curve and that it would be resolved as staff got used to the scanners.

I cant help thinking that the delays caused by the CAA/DFT insistence on revised software had in impact, pushing commissioning into peak period.

I have just looked on the LBA website and cant see anything relating to the security liquids back track.

I fly out next week, so does anyone know if we are as we were regards liquids, laptops etc bascially everything in the tray?
Its on there. Not back to where we were.

They issued something on t'internet. You can leave as many liquid bottles as you like in your hand luggage as long as none exceed 100ml. Anything bigger has to come out. As far as I could see, everything else is as it was and not impacted.

Here is the link on the LBA website referring to changes to liquids etc from the 9th June.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
