Not sure I get the Ashghabat reference. Turkmenistan do not fly to ISB (nor to BHX). There is practically no demand UK to Ashghabat itself (it is, essentially, a closed country). When Turkmenistan offered BHX, it was to connect to ATQ but that has now been cancelled as well.

I think it is quite possible that we will never see them back. They failed their latest EASA audit. They also do not have nearly enough active aircraft to cover the proposed routes to CDG, LHR and MAN. Pakistan needs a new flag carrier.
Huge number of people from Pakistan who live in the UK and what we need is an airline that will get them there and back that is based on the UK. If only we had a new national carrier who behaved like a national carrier...

unless you would like the government to subsidise a national carrier using your tax money, the UK based airlines will fly where it is most profitable for them to go - that does actually include India but clearly not Pakistan. If the demands and yields were good for Pakistan, airlines would serve the routes.

Rumours on pprune suggesting sky express could operate from multiple Uk airports from Greece next year including Athens ,Heraklion and so on within the next two years.

Credit to them

What makes you say Birmingham to Pakistan would not make a profit? It does for connecting flights on Emirates and Qatar.

I think the point being made was airlines will fly the most profitable routes and Pakistan isn't one of them without some sort of subsidy.
Whether that is true or not I don't know but for the likes of Emirates and Qatar the Indian sub continent is just part of their hub operations and not the be all unlike the like of PIA Who again have failed to obtain approval to operate to Europe

Subsidies are a remedy for weak demand but Ian Butty's point is that it is a supply side problem. There is demand from the Midlands but there is lack of UK based airlines willing to supply it.

Turkmenistan will not restart as they no longer serve Amritsar. Their 757s have been parked up for some time. As for PIA, even if they get EASA approval (I believe the next review will not be for a considerable time), they do not have enough aircraft in service for their proposed schedule. BHX is not top of their list of intended destinations.

Easyjet to Belfast 21 weekly!

They are already running at 28/29 flights per week today shows six.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
