The way things are going with the anti tourist protests, demand for Spain may reduce all by itself .

Jet2 can't lease A330s forever. It's hugely expensive and if they didn't have an alternative plan for moving passengers without them, then they would surely buy them themselves instead of leasing. At some point, the A330 leases may well end and they will find another way.
Oddly, there are now rumours appearing on line suggesting a major announcement from Jet2 on the 19th, and 'if true' it will be a ' game changer' .
( Sounds more like MOL at Ryanair!).

There is speculation that the announcement is relating to the permanent addition of A330s to the fleet. That maybe someone just dreaming but odd it crops up just after it's been discussed here. People are even posting impressions of an A330 in the two full Jet2 liveries.

I guess we will have to wait until Friday to see if anything materialises..

Well I have it on good authority that Jet2 are to put there Summer 2026 programme on sale immintley. So it could tie in with that too...

As I had heard that's when the first Airbus A321Neo would appear based at LBA and it may also have something to do with the tie-up with Canadian Airline Air Transat.

I have seen hilarious posts that the announcement is them going into DSA also them buying DSA? dont make me laugh, these people live in dream world. I dont think Jet2 going into DSA would be game changing.. it would be actually considering the airport isnt even open / has an operator..

That fella who does MOT's down there has a future career as a politician...He spouts drivel so often that eventually he finds enough gullible to have a following....still we need laughs in life though don't we🤣

Thought humour was reserved for the LBA General Thread!
Humour was never consigned to the LBA General thread - indeed your jokes are probably universally appreciated and enjoyed!
I think it was just when a thread got taken over with dozens of puns one after the other which took a thread off track.
Back on topic…..let’s hope these rumours come true whatever they might be, it’ll give us something else of interest to discuss!

So what are the possible announcements Jet2 could make this week? Here's my thoughts:
They are to buy/merge with another operator/airline - will be a game changer if it's anyone big
They are to announce their own long rumoured A330s - potential game changer especially if it also includes risky long haul
They are to announce Gatwick as a base - potential game changer but where are the slots coming from?
They are to announce A220s to replace the 733s - probably unlikely and hardly a game changer
LBA to become an all A21N base - alarm clock has just gone off!!

Personally I don't see what benefit Gatwick would bring, certainly to anyone living 'north of Watford' to coin a phrase. Unless, that is, they scatter the 733s around the northern airports and use them to bus passengers to a wide body only Gatwick base. Highly unlikely I know!!
Assuming that, if I was to book a holiday in Florida and have the choice of a 70 mile drive to Manchester for a Virgin direct flight or a 40 mile drive to LBA for a hop to Gatwick then transfer to another plane I know which I'd do.......... sorry, Manchester wins every time - hence why I don't think it's Gatwick

I don't actually think it's LGW either. Just putting a few thoughts out there for discussion. In my view A330s is the most likely with a merger or acquisition not far behind. All that said though Jet2 have always been master tactical technicians so could be absolutely anything tbh

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
