We won't be so lucky we will get all the cast-offs from the other airports.
I would be too sure on that @BCFC. I can see 321N's starting to make an LBA appearance to assist in both LS expansion at a standstill constrained LBA as well as a positive contribution to the CLEUD situation. That is just a personal opinion - nothing I know

Noticed a couple of typos above:
"Would" should read "wouldn't" and
"Standstill" should read "stand"
Damn predictive text

Not strictly LBA related but I'm posting here given the involvement of our esteemed failed actress Mayor.
At the Labour Party Conference, Tracey Brabin has co-hosted with Steve Heapy, Jet2 CEO, an event looking at economic development opportunities, at which Steve made a speech about Jet2 and their contribution to the economy.
Who would ever imagined Tracey Brabin co- hosting an event with Steve Heapy?

We just need to make sure that any articles relating to this event are saved for future prosperity, you know just in case the Mayor has another opinion swing on aviation should a certain group of people get to her...

P R stunt?

Well it probably makes her look good for the people she wants to please in the moment. When there’s a lot of anti aviation sentiment it’s time to join the anti aviation bandwagon. When the party is actively trying to promote economic growth it wouldn’t exactly look good to display herself as anti-growth

Although by summer 2026, LBA should be a very different airport to what we have currently, it seems that Jet2 are offering nothing new in their summer 2026 offering, although the caveat to that is that they have said there will be further announcements to come. Whether that impacts LBA remains to be seen. The Garage Mechanic in Doncaster will be claiming that it's an announcement if their transfer to a newly reopened DSA no doubt.

However, as per Simple Flying's report, LBA has no new routes - disappointing as NCL gets Preveza and Porto. Stansted and Glasgow are the latest airports to acquire based A321NEOs.

I guess that we shouldn't be too surprised really. The current debate about night movements will hopefully be resolved by then but if the legal outcome doesn't favour LBA, the airline most impacted is Jet2 and it's hard to see them basing any more aircraft here due to the night restrictions. In fact, the opposite could apply with less based aircraft so as to bring the airport within limits. It's hard to see them increasing their base and taking bookings only to find later that their night movement schedule is not permitted once we reach September because LBA has already reached it's limit. Once again our airport is being restricted by the selfish minority and the clueless politicians.

And as others have said, one of the regions large employers being potentially restricted with their growth. Now what have our local Labour MPs got to say about that. There is never any balanced debate/argument in all of this. Perhaps we should ask the Oxford English Dictionary to add a new entry:
"LBA" is a swear word used by a minority primarily in the West Yorkshire are of the Uk

Hopefully Steve Heapy had the hard word with Brabin!
I’d fully expect a meeting has already taken place or has been scheduled with her and her team at some point to stress the damage any restrictions at LBA could be to Jet2 and therefore adversely impact the city region…

The Retail Operation has already been lost to the NW due to better road infrastructure.

Large swathes of Engineering will be lost to MAN with the Second Hangar. A few things do remain at LBA but as it’s pretty much Boeing only I see that reducing in the coming years as the business transitions.

It really won’t go down well if flight ops are curtailed too due to a lacklustre backwards facing council.

Has the LBA summer 2026 been fully announced? Other airports are referenced, but LBA, LPL and MAN I haven’t seen referenced, are they in a later release, or just that’s ya lot? If this is it, it is a bit disappointing. I get the CLEUD shiz going on, but I wouldn’t expect JET2 to back down, I was genuinely expecting more to coincide with the terminal extension.

As I said in my post, there is a caveat within the Simple Flying report, which is that Jet2 have said that a further announcement is still to come re Summer 2026.

With summer 26 being a long way off what has been announced is almost certainly not the de facto schedule.

Purely from the LBA perspective I think caution may be needed in regards to over selling a schedule that you may not be able to deliver… Customers booked onto holidays that may need rescheduling or even be subject to cancellation will not understand the aforementioned restrictions being imposed on LBA and are more likely to place the blame firmly with Jet2 potentially causing reputational damage via social media or word of mouth, this is something Jet2 will be keen to avoid for obvious reasons.

If the CLEUD shiz goes in favour of LBA, I could quite easily see a serious announcement for expansion.

That's where the A21N's should be coming in to play. Quieter aircraft with increased capacity. The maths then speak for themselves
Exactly! Jet2 can easily increase their seat offering at LBA without basing more aircraft, but the only problem there is that without additional aircraft, any new routes or route expansion will inevitably mean a reduction in seats on other routes.

Hopefully Steve Heapy had the hard word with Brabin!

Tracy Brabin is very much late to the party and if she thinks she can assist her pals in Doncaster, you highlight what the likely thoughts are in Jet2 towers particularly after their years of investment in Leeds Bradford being curtailed by her pals in Westminster. Sort your s*** out or the investment will go elsewhere.

A lot of people in the industry are thinking that Jet 2 are being courted by the South Yorkshire politicians to look at the lease deal Doncaster are offering around for Finningley.
The next two or three months could tell us more if they are interested.
You never know what they may be offered to start operation there and stagnate the growth at Lba.
I know nothing about this myself but do wonder if there is a plot to get the noise and operational problems moved away from Lba to a more remote location and a much more pro active supportive council.
And the relationship between Lba management and the Leeds City Council cannot be helping the situation.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
