I was at the airport this morning. The boarding card scanners are installed as has been mentioned previously but are yet to be commissioned. Upstairs the queue for Gate 5 was back to the steps by the shops and was causing some congestion. Overheard a couple on the phone being told DSA would be open next Spring with Jet2 and Tui flying from there- wishful thinking, but it serves as a reminder that some pax will be lost when/if it reopens.

85 pax on Kl1020 and we used the airbridge.
Why would Jet2 go to DSA when its in between LBA and EMA?. Never say never I suppose.

You hear that by a lot of people at the airport but they’re never right

The big difference between LBA and DSA is that the former is a privately funded commercial enterprise going from strength to strength whilst the latter will be a taxpayer subsidised vanity project which like all vanity projects will ultimately fail with the taxpayer left footing the bill whilst roads deteriorate and potholes remain unfilled.

Came back from FAO yesterday on FR2504…..parked up at stand 8 and straight up the steps, we were the only aircraft there and straight through passport control BUT a 25 min wait for our cases was ridiculous.

Sorry to break this news to you but that is how long it takes to offload baggage from the hold of an aircraft. 25 minutes is good going. The quick passage through immigration will just have made your wait seem longer.

Went through the Airport smoothly this morning at 8am. I was surprised how many pax there was at that time. Only gripe, security was `less than 15mins', it actually took me 30 mins. They need to get their info sorted.

In perhaps a worrying sign ahead of summer for the airport, queues for security reached the entrance doors this morning.

That's an early spring Tuesday morning not in school holidays....

Security scanners were moving quite quickly, the hold up seemed to be slow progress through the new automatic boarding pass scanners.

The new self scanning entrance gates to Security were causing problems yesterday requiring no less than 5 members of staff to monitor them. There’s only 5 of them and they were causing a lot of teething problems. At AGP there’s a bank of 20 and people simply present their boarding passes and zip through, not at LBA. They were slow and problematic causing significant problems, rejecting many presented boarding passes and causing frustration for staff and passengers. Let’s hope that they were teething problems before the main season.

I think the less than 15 mins sign means from that point.
The sign was at the end of the queue. They are not going to be dead accurate, but twice as long is too inaccurate for me.
Yes, there were problems with the boarding pass scanners but people will get used to them. A lot of the problems were due to people not using them properly. When they were shown, they "flew" through.

Back at LBA today flying out to Alicante with Jet2 at 18.15 (or should be...).
No major faults with the airport, security queue down to the new boarding pass gates but through security in 8 minutes.
It is heaving in departures and the new extension honestly can't come quick enough, seating is full and its stifling hot.
Due to fly on a 300 but now showing a 90 minute delay, from checking FR24, the 300 been used has changed 3 times today and the one that's now operating is also showing operating to PMI at the same time, it's also not left Nice yet...
I honestly can't fault Jet2's customer service but from a punctuality POV they're awful and whenever I've flown with them there's always been some form of delay. Fingers crossed it's not much later as arrival won't be until nearly midnight at this rate.

Not left yet! Hope you get going soon

Landed about 75 mins late. Flight and cabin crew were brilliant and couldn't apologise enough.
Taxiing to the runway, brilliant to see Wizz, EZ, FR, Aer Lingus/Emerald, Jet2 on stands. Departed from gate 10 so a lovely walk outside in front of the new terminal, which gives you a true appreciation of its size! The airside windows are huge too

Came back this afternoon on FR2504….great flight but….aircraft parked up and had to wait 15 mins for buses to arrive…then when we got to the stairs at gate 5 they were 100’s of passengers along the hallway and waiting outside on the tarmac…never experienced anything like this before and all I can say….thank goodness it wasn't pis*ing it down….not good, then to top it off, as I came out of the so called ‘Premuim Short Stay Car Park’ which is not cheap the gate didn't open…I pressed the button and the guy said “sorry, the camera is to low to read your number plate” yet the camera that lets you in isn’t? Love LBA but silly things like this need sorting. Oh and by the way…7 Passport Control desks with only 3 open?..View attachment 32549View attachment 32548View attachment 32547

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
