Relatively speaking, LBA have only just begun as far as Easyjet is concerned. For a couple.of years we just had flights to Geneva. They were then canned and for a few years, we had nothing. Then we got Belfast. That was only a couple of years ago. Then Paris, with Geneva back in winter. Now, we have Palma and Malaga so we have gone from 1 route to 5, albeit seasonal.Everyone on here keeps talking about Easy opening a base at LBA but seem happy with what Easy are doing here now with the supposed promise of a base in the not too distant future.
If you look at what they are running at Liverpool you might be surprised, as I was, and think, rightly, that we are not doing very well at all in comparision. Their range of flights from there puts us to shame. I don't know how long their programme took to build up there but our measly offering, compared, is something of a disgrace when we have been courting them for what seems ages and Liverpool is only a stones throw away from Man.
Liverpool has been an Easyjet base for many years so it's entirely expected that they have far more than LBA. Bear in mind that whilst Easyjet were building up their programme at LPL, there was no Jet2 presence. Their only serious competition was Ryanair..
So I think you are expecting too much too quickly. What Easyjet are doing at LBA is very much what they have done at other airports ahead of opening a base. However, there is no ' promise'. Hope, yes. Expectation, probably. You seem to be forgetting too that LBA simply doesnt have the capacity yet to accommodate several more based aircraft. Nor does it have the night time movements available, and in the event LBA loses the CLEUD appeal, that is a major stumbling block.
