Had an email today that T2 Multi Storey West has been resigned as P3, with T2 East becoming, P1. I assume T2 M&G would be P2?

Does anyone know if the T1/T3/JetParks have been rebranded as well?

Using a numbering system would make the signage alot less confusing.

I had this for T2 M&G -
We have been contacted by Manchester Airport who own and operate T2 Multi Storey East & T2 Meet & Greet to advise that they have updated their signage at the airport.

From 14th May 2025 the T2 Multi Storey East / T2 Meet & Greet car park will be signposted as P1.

  • T2 Meet and Greet bookings please proceed up the spiral ramps for three floors until you reach the roof (Level D).

There's a press release about it here as well.

Great news regarding T3! At least everyone at the airport will have something to look forward to now. Obviously we are aware what the new entrance and security areas will be but now it's out there to the public at MAG.

Also I haven't used T3 in over 10 years now but the smaller pic in the article looks like where the current T1 Escape Lounge is to me? Wonder if this will mean stairs up to the upper floor from the current T1 duty free hall and then through T3 that way?

I was curious to see what they would do with the checkin hall at T3. It seems that will be mothballed.

I am trying to orientate myself aroun the changes to the entrance. So you will come out of the now T1 secuitry into the T1 hall where the chandeliers used to be. Would it be right to assume that you would then leave that hall not via duty free into T3 or would you still pass through duty free? If so would the old T1 lounges still be utilised for T3?

I think if they cut off the main departure area in T1 where the you can split to Pier C it will allow them to evenutally knock down Pier C and then expand out to Pier 3 in T2

Just did a dummy booking for escape lounge at end of the year and nothing showing so its possible that the works on the old BA Area will absorb the existing escape lounge to make a first floor bar / food court as the cgi's show the central part of the downstairs area much less cluttered and with the new MAG style seating.

Its possible of course that the old T3 checkin and security could be utilised by knocking through behind Dixons to where the old Security entrance was in between the current Ryanair and BA check in zones which would open up a much larger retail area.

The location of the old bmi lounge might even become the escape - who knows but using the T1 lounges *must* make sense from a capacity point of view?

That smaller pic in the press release looks like the current upstairs (where the old BA lounge was), it will be a new bar area for seating up ton 500 people.

There will be a new route into T3 departures but it's not been confirmed where that route will be.
The duty free in T1 is remaining so you will still have to walk through the departure area where the chandeliers once were and then through duty free as per today, but then turn left near the lounges into a new corridor to get to the T3 area.
It's unclear if the lounges will remain or will become part of a seating area or maybe even the new walkthrough...

When pier 3 eventually happens, even if pier C still remains, it won't block any construction work as there is adequate enough space between any new taxiway leading to pier 3 and pier C itself.

Might as well rename T3 as T1! Will all be adjoined in time by the looks, as the new low cost terminal. Let's hope piers get a face lift and old towers come down!!

I was under impression old tower cannot come down and to be honest looks iconic. I remember going upto the tower on a few occasions on tours and when a friend of mine had an accident on way to work and I helped him into the tower and he said go and sit with my collegue while I get my leg strapped up
3 hours later I hope I didn`t spoil your afternoon, ah those were the days

Oh the "old days". My late parents knew the BOAC station manager and he managed to get me a trip into the original WWII tower. Then in my mid-teens I managed a visit to the 1962 tower - 2 movements in about 2 hours, one being the EG931(?) which was the scheduled LPL-MAN-FRA flight in those days.
Later on, after I had started work in corporate travel I cadged a couple of visit via an ATCO, who subsequently moved to Canada, and at a later stage into the current tower.
How the times have changed? Now, as you're aware, Manchester handles, at busy times, over 650 movements per day.

I personally think in time it will be renamed T1, but for now and once Ryanair have settled into their new check in/bag drop off and security areas at the end of the year, then maybe a renumbering will take place…it would be logical as the airport has already said the future is a two terminal operation.

If you mean piers B & C, then no chance as they won’t be used. The older pier in T3 could do with a refurb on the outside, but the rest of the pier on the outside is pretty modern looking to be fair.

My father (not an airport employee) was once working in the then new Ops tower. He forgot something and had to go back down to get it. Trying to get back up he found the lift was code guarded. His minder didn’t know it. Knowing a bit about the airport and aviation he had a guess at the code. And it worked.

0624.

He thinks it was changed soon after….

Seems ludicrous to not use B and C and bus Easyjet passengers from T2 to the B and Cs actual stands!? Might as well remove all airbridges from C and lone B one.....Surely T1 and 3 will be integrated into a low cost T1 terminal. I'm still sceptical how T2, with just 2 piers will cope with all traffic minus Easy and Ryan!? Remember few remotes available during day when dual ops commence on Echo taxiway

Sorry…I wasn’t very clear in my previous response.
I meant to say Piers B & C will be used but just not internally so therefore no point in refurnishing them. Yes, they will be used (‘or at least Piers C) as a bussing operation from the T2 B gates.
There are actually 3 piers in T2, don’t forget the east pier which can handle 8 narrowbody or 4 widebody aircraft at one time. There are also the Zulu remote stands, new western apron stands (although they are replacing some current stands) and of course there’s 10 narrowbody stands on pier C.

It would be good to perform a calculation between number of T2 stands there will be and how many based T2 aircraft there will be both in summer and winter…as EasyJet aren’t transferring until around November…can anyone provide some numbers…?

Good idea but a bit difficult with the flexibility of stands for type (one large or two small) at any given time of day; eg 306 or 310 will take one 380 3 times a day but can take 2 737s each at other times

I wonder what plan is for T1 building and B and C in the future? Surely demolition of buildings, tower, multistorey and B and C. If Pier 3 and 4 completed, maybe rebuild of Pier B joined to T3?? Speculation....maybe this could be all achieved over next 15 to 20 years?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
