Middle son and girlfriend using airport today. Through jet2 check-in and security in less than 30.
Went into new extension and neither of them had a phone signal one on O2 the other on Vodafone.
They had to back to old part to get signal
Anyone else Aware of this issue?
Not good passenger experience.
Will this be sorted?
How though, is the lack of a phone signal the airports fault? They don't have control over where transmitters are or the strength of the signal. That's down to O2 and Vodafone. If there's t'internet in there then calls can still be made via Whats App ? Failing that, as you point out, they can walk back into the old area if they really need to make a call . No doubt LBA will be aware and seeking a solution with the providers but there's only so much they can do.

Connect to the airport wifi and you can call using WIFI calling.

Ive heard this criticism too. Cant they call over the internet? (assuming theres internet in the new bit)
No Internet either on phone.

Not saying it is but a lot of travellers rely on phone for texting family etc as was the case today.
Works in old not in new!
Too much metal interference?
Who knows but if it's a black spot it does need looking into. As LNER are doing!

Used the new terminal for the first time today.

Queues for morning security small and earlier issue with ticket scanning gates seem solved (albeit some low IQ types trying to go through two at a time).

I think the Leeds United shop gone unless I missed it.

As others mentioned it'd be hard to find the new part if you weren't looking for it.

Suspect the seating area for Burger King will be far too small.

I do wonder whether they limit the area dedicated to seating to nudge people to use the bars etc. However it seems to have the effect of people nursing one drink to keep a seat and blocking seats which in turn means others can't sit to eat/drink in the designated restaurant/cafe seating.

Looks worlds away and a vast improvement on the old terminal parts though and a transformation. Very impressive.

Still ugly outside.

I agree and it's hard to imagine that nobody has made them aware. Staff working there will have the same problem if its all networks, but if some work and some don't, then it can't be anything to do with the terminal. We all saw that the terminal is steel, glass and cladding, just like most buildings. There's no reason why it's instruction should block a signal if that signal is strong enough. Is it possible that the baggage machinery below is creating interference in some way? It's all gobbledigook to me. I'll see if I can find anything out.

Leeds United have done a deal with a major USA company who are now responsible for all retail. When announced, they did say it would lead to store closures . Perhaps LBA, being their smallest store, was an early victim?

I'm going through 2 weeks tomorrow at a similar time to my son. I'm on E E so will see if it works. Mrs is on O2.

I'm told its affecting all signals. Airport aware and a solution is being 'worked on'. Looks to be something completely unexpected. Its not as though the building's construction differs from most other commercial buildings.

Landed Leeds last Sunday morning on the inbound Sun Express Airbus A320, 9H-GKK from Antalya. Parked stand 10 outside the new terminal extension. We used rear steps to disembark the aircraft then walked cross the apron straight into the new terminal heading down to immigration. The were No ques as we were the only arrival at that time.

After getting our passports checked we the headed straight into the new large more spacious baggage hall to belt 3. Then strangely for some unknown reason we waited 45 mins for our bags to arrive, when the belt finally started moving the was a big round of applause. The was both a Ryanair and Jet2 flight that landed after us and their bags came before ours.

Meanwhile whilst waiting around I tried using my Mobile data seen as was wanted to book an Uber taxi, but I could not get any reception in there on the 02 network.

Finally after getting our bags back we trundled down the temporary walk way and after leaving the building my phone came back to life so I managed to book an Uber within 5 mins. It only cost us £15 home back to Stanningley. A lot cheaper than using Arrows whom have charged me £26 for the same trip last year.

Down in London next weekend for a music festival. Using LNER train for trip down south next Sunday, then am having a day spotting at Heathrow on Monday 14th and yes sadly booked to fly up to Manchester using British Airways on return, we really do need that link back now that I have got my Arsenal Membership.

Doing a (Spotting) day trip out to Dublin on Saturday July 19th with Ryanair, so I will finally get to use the new Leeds Bradford departures area for first time. Then got a 6+ day All Inclusive trip out to Lanzarote booked in September with our very own Jet2 Holidays.IMG_3548.jpeg

I just dont understand why it takes 4t mins to move the bags such a short distance at such a quiet time.

Maybe some enhanced checking by Border Force on luggage from Turkey with sniffer dogs and the like, out of sight in the bowels of the airport.

I doubt it.
You'd be surprised! Turkey flights are notorious for some dodgy passengers with even more dodgy baggage. If there was a tip off or knowledge that something might be on board then some form of action by Police or Border Force may have delayed the baggage. There's no real reason why the Sun Express flight would have its bags delivered last after it arrived first unless of course there was some technical hitch preventing access to the hold.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
