easyJet’s handling agent DHL has been given a handover date for their new facilities in T2. This is late November however there is plenty of time between now and then for that to change.

The departure lounge & VCC has been handed over and is now airside albeit closed to public until late July. Security East is also being used in peak times; mainly the during the morning hours. Pier 2 to open late September onwards in a phased process.

T3 renovation has begun in the area of the old Escape/BA lounges however much of the work is being held until FR start transferring more of the operation over to T1.

Thanks for the info.
Hoping that date for easyJet stays in place 🤞

Ryanair to move over to T1 departures at beginning of the winter schedule was the last update…?

Just after - beginning of November.

These things can and are likely to change.

Should hear more solid info on airline moves in coming months.

One last question from me…the new dual taxiway system, I assume once pier 2 is open this can become operational?
As the remote stands will have to close to make way for the demolition of the cargo sheds…

Seems ridiculous to open pier 2 for Easy jet to dominate!! So Ryanair will use Pier A, B and C once Easy vacate!?

Who says MAN will be doing that?!

Nothing is set in concrete yet, but as previously stated, Ryanair will remain in T3 and use their current stands and overnight pier B (with bussing operation it’s assumed).

Pier C would most likely be used as an overflow of T2 stands I would think…again a bussing operation would be required for these stands. As already stated on this forum previously, stands 29 & 31 will in the future become code C only, but pier C could be used to park both narrow body and widebody aircraft depending which stand is used.
Until pier 3 is built, I would like to think pier C will be in use (but minus passengers inside)…?

They won’t. Is that just an assumption?

So Pier B and C for Easy. Bussing from T2? Ryan Pier A and B overflow- bussing from T3? Once dual taxiway opens, only a handful of remotes until sheds demolished, will likely take a few years to complete!! So no way Easy can use T2 stands probably until Pier 3 built in many many years!

Not sure why it should take 'a few years' to demolish some warehousing and construct new stands. It's not the most demanding construction project compared with others delivered recently.

No, as per the previous comments, pier B for Ryanair along with current T3 stands. Yes, bussing will be required from pier B, for night stopping aircraft and therefore first wave departures.
EasyJet and other airlines will continue to use pier C stands but with a bussing operation from the B gates of T2, which is what happens today if an aircraft is on a remote stand for a T2 flight.

No idea ref timescale of the demolition but due to start once the current occupants depart. Then new apron areas to be laid for the new remote stands.

That’s why pier C comes into it and will continue to be used as remote T2 stands, because your right, there won’t be enough stands even once pier 2 is opened…now we need some more money made available for pier 3 ASAP!

Don't think it will be a domination, just a few on the Pier. Haz quoted the initial plan below, but unsure if things have changed since.
Regarding easyjet in T2. I believe the initial plan at first wave is to have 7 aircraft on T2 contact stands, 8 on T2 remote stands and the remaining 8 parked around T1 B/C Pier as remote stands. B/C pier will also host multiple Jet2, Tui and other nightstopping aircraft. It’s unclear if passengers will be bussed or the aircraft towed to T2 after some of the first wave has departed. I suspect the ones on Zulu remote will be towed to pier 1. Ryanair will use existing T3 stands as well as the current stand 1 of T1.
And for me this is understandable. Yes not ideal to have only 7 of 23 EasyJet based aircraft on contact stands for the start of the day but I would imagine some will be dragged over, especially for the 7:30 to 9:30 departures like Jet2 do. They could also take advantage of the A380 stands during this time, as they currently do with Stand 12, using 12L and 12R only for the first wave of departures.

You beat me to it!!

Landed in T2 today at 1319. Hand baggage only. Had a separate ticket from T3.

Couldn't use flight transfers because we had to check in a bag with Loganair measuring 55x40x20cm.

We walked from the plane at A7 (I think), through T2 arrivals corridor to the border queue, then skylinks to the station. That took around 60 minutes.

Then onwards to T1, followed by the walk to T3. Had to wait 15 minutes for Loganair to open check in desk slightly earlier than 3pm. Then there's a queue for security, then got turned away from the T3 lounge, queue for Boots, finally find a seat near gate 47 at 1530.

Sat on the floor to use power socket

See bottleneck!! Hopefully all sorted soon!

For those who wish to know, the first part or the refurbished departure lounge is planned to open w/c 28th Jul.

This includes the new route to the old East Pier (D Gates) through the new VCC.

FedEx have now vacated building 300, leaving Swissport (who move in August), WFS and MAG.

MAG are vacating the site in late 2025 - partially to a site off Wilmslow Old Road (Clough Bank Farm).

In other news, MAG have also purchased the land around Boundary Farm (Formally used by Toad Parking) to the south of the airport, this is for a new car park with 1800 spaces.

Apolgies if already mentioned, the Skylink from The Station to T2 is closed from 1700. More accurately, you can use it to get to the Radisson but no further. No end date specified on the signage. They are running shuttle buses every 15 minutes, but looking at the queue we decided to walk from The Station. This was last Thursday evening. I would have thought it would be best to have upgraded the public realm before the Skylink closure.

In T2 there's signage up saying "UK Arrivals" but of course the area is still fenced off

The answer that I've received is as follows:

"As I understand it, it’s just the next couple of evenings. The end of the Skylink into T2 will be closed due to some planned work as part of the MAN-TP programme, therefore there will be no access to T2 from the Skylink between 17:00 and 01:00 and an alternative route will be in place. The Radisson will still be accessible from the Skylink though."

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
