I'm not surprised they have been told to move off a construction site they shouldn't be there in the first place and I assume they need airport permission to stream on airport property who no doubt would recite security issues.

Having said that a proper viewing facility like we used to have when the terminal opened would nice but UK airports in general are set against it with MAN a noticeable exception and they allow streaming.

Oh for the days of the Heathrow Queens building roof viewing area.

They don’t stream directly on the construction site.Its the path part of the area that they stream from but was kicked off it earlier and that’s why they streamed late however they can stream from their on weekends.its not airport property it’s Solihull council.The airport has not released its priority boundary’s for years

The airport property I was referring to are the ares referred to in your post car park 5 etc not from where they tried to stream today.

I don't see why they were moved and they themselves said they weren't going back until the work is completed if it is not part of the construction site as otherwise they are entitled to be there as I understand it.

Either way it's pity as they do a decent job although I only occasionally dip in and out of their streams.

Surprised airport staff don’t ever give him a mention or invitation to diamond house to say thank you for streaming from Birmingham airport.

Whilst on the subject I think it's worth reminding people to be vigilant if they are in Sheldon Country Park with expensive camera equipment. It was reported on this forum a couple of years ago that a member got attacked by a group of those idiots on motorbikes 🙁

Need police there every weekday then if that’s the case.

They’ve also closed the gate on hazeldene road apparently

Anybody on here ever done an Interrail trip around Europe?

I've looked at doing one in the past but have never actually done it. I like the thought of seeing multiple cities and countries in one trip but I wonder if it can be quite grueliing doing the long train journeys given the distances involved. There are some very nice itinerary ideas to consider.

I'd be interested in the experiences of anyone who has done it 🙂

Having moved last year to the village of Alvechurch nearer to Brum we decided to catch the train on Saturday for a look round our first visit in three years last time being to see Queen.

We enjoyed it and ended up doing an "Ozzie" tour vising Ozzies Bridge, Ozzies bench, Ozzies mural in fact Ozzies everything including a nice visit to Birmingham Museum which suprise, surprise has a Black Sabbath exhibition staring you know who.

We visited the Jewellery Quarter as well as the city centre playing spot and photographing the bull including finding the one in Villa kit (boo) Ozzie again along withe obligatory visits to Marks and Spencer, Selfrdges etc not forgetting bloody Primark.

Back to New St. where Mrs rollo suggested another coffee as we were by a Weatherspoons mine came in a pint glass and after 22,000 steps it went down well with a knackered 73 year old

We had great time and how the City centre has changed 😀

Now we need a that sports quarter and the team to go with it.

That X-City line is very useful. Not just for Brum, but also for Sutton, the park & Lichfield.

Since WMT introduced the new trains, it's a very comfortable trip too.

October seems a long way off, but for those of us who will be visiting Schengen-area countries, we need to start planning...

Biometric details, including finger prints will be needed before we will be able to enter Spain, Portugal, Italy and a host of other countries.

That is my initial view after seeking information from HM Gov - but have I got it right?

Will biometrics be brought in universally in October, or is it going to be phased in?

I have seen that one of the regional centres where we can obtain our biometric accreditation is in Birmingham. Can anyone explain to me exactly where it is? And will this be the only centre in the West Midlands, an area with a population of near 3 million...?

My understanding is that the EES system, to 'monitor' our movements will come into effect 12th October. No need for any action prior to arrival, however from this date, upon arrival you will need to provide fingerprint and photo, these being conducted at Border Force, in dedicated 'booths'. I do know that at ALC, there are considerable 'booths' waiting to be installed. Whether these are the one's we shall use, I do not know at this stage. Once your details are recorded, any subsequent visit, you will just need to have your fingerprint and or photo checked. This will allow the EU to monitor the 90 days within 180 days ruling. I best be careful from now on😏😏 Beware of lengthy queues initially 😒😒

Simply put the whole system is due to be complete and mandatory by October 2026 with the first part being finger printsand photo taken on your first entry point followed by phase 2 applying online for a visa for a modest charge valid for multiple entries for three years then renew as required. Phase 2 starts next spring giving everyone a 6 months grace period.

They've been trying to get this up and running for some years but looks like they have now got it sorted and naturally we are reciprocating with a similar system for EU citizens.
