the work on that sports bar on the upper floor in t3 has been going on since much earlier than that in the public area and the old 1903 area - that part was all boarded off with people working behind since late 2024.

as you note, once the escape was closed in early june they could also start on that side as well.

Interesting to see the Ethiopian A350 parked on stand 12R and a Virgin A330 on stand 56 in T3!
Are we really that short of stands at the moment? Or do we have football charters that have been on the ground overnight?

Just a lack of stands, couple of extra TUI 787’s in today not helping the situation.

ET went to Bravo 4 - will be towed to 308 at 1630 for departure.
VS110 went to stand 55 - since towed back over to T2.

It’s common for T1 stands to be used for tow offs - 26/27 are often used by EI/ET.

Does anyone know if arrivals onto T3 stands 42 & 43 are bussed into T3 or is there an internal route to immigration?
I know for departures you have that long windowless corridor, but how does it work for international arrivals now these stands are used by only Ryanair.

Is T1 Multistorey carpark due to close shortly? It doesn't seem bookable past about 18th November.
I would have thought it worthwhile keeping it open based on the airports own car-park occupancy figures...

That date would coincide with easyJet moving to T2. It would be a trek from T2 arrivals to get your car from there but ok if your arriving into T3.

2 weeks ago we flew out of T1 for the first time in 25 years (aside from once with full on covid restrictions). It was an experience to say the least and whilst we won’t miss that it was nice to see it once last time in the current format. I heavily documented the experience landside and airside including piers B and C and intend to share once I have time.

As a punter it was like a time capsule. Never been to security B - interesting how it uses an original staff car park and that the exit route uses the 1985 patio court corridor to get you to the concourse via the original domestic baggage reclaim stairs. And like others no idea why security A was not available. Pier B, even with its bolt on west side waiting rooms cannot cope with the numbers. Overall it’s such a rabbit warren as a whole it makes T2X seem straight forwards! And yes, it is clearly life expired in layout, low ceilings, bathroom capacity etc. Midday on a Saturday we did find whilst busy (and with airlines already moving over to T2) there was available seating space and enough F&B choice and space.

The stats were still impressive; check in was longer than it should have been due to the lady not knowing about Chinas transit visa system. However security B took 17 minutes including queuing. Arriving onto pier B it’s a schelp from gate 12 to immigration so I took pleasure in noting the 1962 original pier and the 1995 superhub addition. After a 17 minutes pier walk in only 2 minutes we were through immigration and into the baggage hall. Bags took a not-bad 22 minutes to arrive. There was a large queue for taxis but they kept arriving slowly - a different story had it been raining in the shambolic exposed pick up area outside.

All in all it was fascinating for nostalgic reasons but operationally it’s a good thing it is closing in its present form. The core wait times were good but as a passenger experience it’s well past the sell by date.

Good morning from T1.

Earlier, we walked from the ibis encountered numerous non working auto walkers – as they’re called by MAG – and some that have been removed.

We are on easyJet today who are using T1B. We got to T1 B and got told that because we had fast track we should go to T1 A.

We went up to T1 A and the fast track queue was slower than normal channels, but once you’re in in your stuck.

Reject rate 33%. Passenger target 294. Actual 172. Sigh.

So lo and behold mine was rejected. Liquids test on a roll on deodorant caused some issue because the operative couldn’t extract liquid from an almost full container and needed help off a colleague.

Stroll through duty free because we’re unable to get past slow walkers.

Get to the lounge late for our booking which they honour. Just witnessed a member of staff put his foot in the table to tie his laces.

Plates in the lounge are no bigger than side plates.

From leaving the ibis to entering the lounge was 45 minutes.

Watching a live steam on you tube just now and it looks like there’s barriers around stand 16/17 in T3…is this for the reconfiguration of the stands and removal of the airbridge on stand 18?

For the removal of the bridge on stand 18.

Following that the stands will be re-configured. Stand 18 to be removed and 16/17 to be upgraded to max 321 capable.

Ah right, good stuff.
Can I request they also get rid of stand 41 due to the absurd boarding process and extremely small gate area which is still in the way!

Also, on the same stream I made out two Jet2 A321neo on the south facing stands on pier 2…if I am guessing right on stands 204 & 206? So have all of the stands on the new pier now become operational?

Stand 41 is only generally used for the first departure and last arrival with maybe one Belfast turnaround in between. Not ideal by any stretch but will remain for now.

As you say, stands 204 & 206/206L are now open along with the taxiway. Remaining stands will open in phases over the coming week or so.

I vaguely remember you also stating that there was going to be a reconfiguration of stands 55/56? I think it was mentioned a bus shelter like structure was going to be placed along the head of stands towards where stand 57 is now?

Partially answering my own question, but just booked parking for a T2 Easyjet flight in Mid December and was offered a "new option" described as - Mid Stay (Formerly T1 Multistorey) - in addition to the usual Jetparks, T2 Multistorey West options. £16 cheaper for 3 days parking if you can suffer the long walk.....
So the old T1 multistorey must be staying open for a while after all.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
