Ooo looks really spacious actually! Ceiling is as it was but new door on Gate 24 and also clear to see the downstairs toilets are gone (ngl, those stairs were dangerously steep imo!)

Haven't seen any departures use the Gates this morning but hopefully should be operational soon

Busing is from gate B10 in T2 to Gate 20 in the former T1. Aircraft will be accessed by airbridge.

Operates in all departures config from 0300 in the morning till mid morning then pier will not be used until 2000 in the evening for arrivals only. Busses will operate in reverse instead going to B12 in T2.

There is a pop up WH Smith’s at gate 21. Toilets are located at Gates 20 & 28.

Pier is in trials this week with go live date on Friday 1st.

Do we think Pier C refurb is the nail in the coffin for Pier 4!?

The reality is they would lose some D gates during any refurbishment of T2 or the construction of pier 3. So it’s an overflow and contingency for that. T3 has taken priority for the time being but I can see by the winter season T2 getting the final finishing touches. I was there over the weekend and the floor in T2 legacy check-in zone A & B is a mess. How £1.3 billion has been spent and the old floor still remains I will never know.

As @LS@MAN pointed out on another forum, EZY2161 G-UZLT was parked on Stand 24 this morning with it's airbridge attached. According to FR24 it did depart from Gate B24 which indicates that Pier C is now operational.

TOM2456 G-TAWM also appears to be leaving from Gate B25 this morning.

I don’t think so. It’s a sticking plaster solution until such a time that funding can be secured for pier 3. Fundamentally pier C is nearing the end of its useful life due to its age and design. Its position also limits other redevelopment opportunities for the airport. The way it has been configured without segregated departure and arrival routes does not make it a particularly attractive long term option from an efficiency and flexibility point of view. I expect it will be used for a few years until further redevelopment can be afforded.
