Leeds Bradford: Airport Application To Amend Night Flying Quota Methodology

@LBAYORKIE you may not be aware, but using capitals is poor etiquette online, it is like shouting in conversation. Saying someone must do something, is equally not great- as I mentioned previously there may be good reasons why someone cannot, or chooses not to update the planning portal. It’s their choice, so by all means encourage but also accept that not everyone will.

Emotions are clearly running quite high here but remember it's because we all care about our beloved LBA and we want a successful outcome here. That said I DO AGREE (lol) that capitals are bad etiquette as it's classed as written shouting

I’ve just registered my support. What I will say is that was one of the most shocking online experiences I’ve ever had, from resetting passwords, not receiving confirmation emails, having to make selections that are just box ticking because they don’t really fit the purpose.
It’s taken me about half a dozen attempts over the last couple of weeks, and I’m tech savvy, so fully understand if some people look and give it up as a bad job

@LBAYORKIE you seem to think that the outcome of the planning request is totally down to the number of objectors/supporters, not planning regulations.
I am going to be one of the "silent majority" as I am fed up of being told what I should be doing.
Its not just down to that but several of us believe in maximising our chances. The objectors dont hold back and neither should we. If you dont want to contribute thats up to you.

I used capitals for emphasis. As has been said by others, we need to match the enthusiasm shown by the objectors.

Its for emphasis, I think its fully justified.

Thanks for persisting. Every submission counts.

Who are the 63 people? And have these 63 people got pork for brains?

Honestly you cannot educate pork and it feels you cannot educate people. The airport want to actively encourage quieter aircraft and people are against it. All because some **** at the anti airport, anti life, anti economic, group says they'll be sudden stands and more flights. Not sure how that works.

Honestly some people need to be sent to an island in the middle of the southern pacific and told do not get back off it. Your intelligence is not going to contribute anything to our society.

Government should make the policy of night flights UK wider for all airports and then councils can be more restrictive if they like. - through a series of applications to central aviation department & CAA. And with valid reasoning. Sod these freaks.

As I mentioned over the weekend, I wrote to LBA asking if they were requesting staff add support. I have posted the reply below particularly as my question has been answered and it includes thanks for support, which applues to everyone who has added their support so far on the portal.

Morning Heather

You will have seen that the objections now exceed supportive comments, but before the application went in if you asked me if this would be the case we all would have said yes. Your support is very much a key aspect of getting people to make comments on the planning portal, so thank you for that.

We will be launching a social media campaign and explanatory video and website this week, we have just been held up whilst we make sure the messaging is correct. As part of this (and maybe before) we will be messaging all our staff to try and secure their support. We did this with Project Sky and it worked quite well.

Looks like LCC are closing comments on 23rd Sept, so we still have time to influence the outcome. This may get extended as well

Charles

Meanwhile.......

The Weetwood Labour Councillors have posted on line encouraging people to object to the airport proposals on the portal. They are handing out letters by hand but asking people to share on line. They will be a bit shocked to find that the vast majority of responses are in favour, with people seemingly angry at their opposition, and pledging to do as they ask, go on the portal, but support the airport. There is one note of thanks to them from Mr Nimby himself, the head honsho in the teddybear cult.

Interesting to note the councillors fail to mention anything about encouraging the use of quieter aircraft. Another example of being economic with the facts.

This is the article referred to above. Seems pretty clear the opposition is on manoeuvres given the sudden surge of objections on the planning portal and now this.
No doubt their efforts will intensify even more as we approach the deadline for objections.
Have you seen the comments posted on this report....over 300 with most saying don't buy a house near an airport and complain....its been there longer than most people who are alive today!

I have read them and commented (twice). Some on there are barefaced liars. The plans panel and councillors should be made to read the comments. But this is nothing new. This level of support has always been there. The problem is harnassing it and getting all these supporters to actually say what they think in a way that counts. The system is designed to ensure they don't.

I would bet my mortgage on the fact that the sudden influx of opposition is the same names who opposed Project Sky. University so called 'doctors' from around the country, all affiliated to the teddybear cult in some way. No doubt they object to every airport planning application.

I am sick and tired of the anti airport brigade spouting utter nonsense as fact in the papers. Perhaps it's a sign of desperation. One clown claiming that the flight paths have changed so that planes fly over Kirkstall - which they have done when departing 14 and heading over towards Manchester since 1965 when the runway opened. It's the standard routing for flights heading West or South. Straight ahead for a couple of miles then right towards Manchester and the main airlanes.

I am not doing it any more. It's pointless arguing with people who make up nonsense .

Of course we dont know how many objectors actually live in the area. It could be, like previous applications, that the organised objectors have enrolled the support of environmental groups nationwide. I assume LCC will weed these out.

Given the sudden surge in objections I think you’re right that the net has been cast far and wide by those we don’t mention. From Google these are the rules for Outside Objections
    • Anyone can comment: Local planning authorities allow any member of the public to submit an objection or comment.
    • No residency requirement: You do not need to live next door, in the same neighborhood, or even inside the same council area.
    • Weight of the objection: Councils read all feedback, but they give more weight to concerns from people who are directly affected by the project, such as immediate neighbours.
So although valid objections can’t be discounted more weight is given to those directly affected. Hopefully this will lessen the impact of “national” objectors.

Unfortunately these idiots can’t see through the facts, they are brain washed by the clown group, am glad I am not on social media otherwise it probably be banned by now 🤣

Just leave this here. Absolute garbage and we see now the Green Party and G***A are one.

🚨 Leeds Bradford Airport wants to remove the current cap on night flights and allow unlimited flights between 6am and 11.30pm, with no limit on how noisy those planes can be.

🛫 That could mean 75% more night flights, more flights during the day and more noisy take-offs from 6am, particularly during the summer.

📣 As Shipley Green councillors (Shipley is on LBA's flight path), we’re urging residents to formally object to the planning application. The airport will be pushing hard for approval, so every objection matters.

🌱 We should not have to accept more aircraft noise, pollution and harm to people’s health and wellbeing. Please submit your objection before 25 September and share this with your friends, family and neighbours.

More info about how to object here: etc

I wounder if they complain about any other forms of transport been noisy
Trains that are from the 1980’s that smoke like a steam train.
Wagons banging and clattering over pot holes.
These people are just spouting utter lies and people are so thick they believe it

Also if they are spouting lies does the airport have e a legal case against them

I have forwarded this to LBA for their interest. This is their response.

Heather

That’s poor messaging from the Greens, very disappointing to see.

Converting positive sentiments to online support is always difficult with planning applications, people don’t want to put their head above the parapet, hence why applications always receive negative comments.

We will be getting our messaging out very soon.

It is clearly G***A nonsense regurgitated. Shipley is only on the 32 departure routing with aircraft probably 5000' up when passing overhead. Many actually psss further up the valley towards Keighley. Very few, if any overnight departures so this is all about departures in 32 between 0600 and 0700.

My mother lives in shipley and she never hears any aircraft at all esp as most are very high up by that point, in fact been a more urban area there is far more noise from the busy roads in that area and even the nightly freight trains passing through that i believe head upto north yorks produce far more rumbling noise. Its totally beyond me what goes off in the heads of these g***a, greens and others, to be honest their just a laughable joke!

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
