Not LBA related but by no means irrelevant. Southampton have had their runway extension planning application denied by the council.
Not strictly correct. Southampton Council have objected, but the airport sits within the Eastleigh Council area, so it's Eastleigh that will make the decision. It's a bit like if Bradford Council objected to our terminal (which they didn't).

Do you know what I actually read the article back on reading your comment and yes. So my apologies.
What a cunning writing style there.
Thank you for your correction.
With regards to the other comments I take that on board.

It's great to have you onboard!

I’ve come to the conclusion that even if aircraft were completely silent with zero emissions Labour controlled local councils , Labour MP’s and groups such as GALBA, would still object to anything aviation related regardless.
could you imagine completely silent aircraft though, would be well boring, one reason im so into aviation is because of the noise

Eastleigh Council is Lib Dem controlled with a huge majority so no chance of them approving the application!
I may be wrong (often am) but I don't think it really comes down to choice or politics? I think that so long as it's within policies set by the council themselves they will likely have to approve else risk losing at large expense in appeal?

Which is the situation in Leeds too. The plans panel know it. But it was the same at Bristol and they still rejected it. An appeal is now underway.

All is well with the world, our esteemed council leader, Judith Blake, who has driven this city forward ( i'm being satirical!) Is leaving the council after being given a peerage this week...probably in recognition of the work she's done; driving aviation development and tourism forward in Leeds, the transport infrastructure developments, ground breaking public transport strategy and overwhelming usage of cycle lanes. I give up.

Quite an interesting read, i would say positive, with some negative comments regarding business travel/flights.

Well he's talking sense regarding the appeal, and nonsense otherwise. He ignores the fact that the terminal will enable the airport to attract business routes operated by airlines who simply won't come with the current facilities. That's the whole idea. And BA did not scrap the Heathrow flights permanently. They suspended it. That does leave the door open to re-start it in the future if they so wish -either themselves or using another carrier using BA flight codes.

Will business be such a driving force in the future though? The last 9 months has seen the world change. The advent of Zoom, Skype and Microsoft Teams has vastly reduced the need for face-to-face meetings. Home working for many is likely to become the norm rather than the exception. Cutting our expensive and largely unnecessary travel to/from meetings by whatever means (car/rail/air) is becoming more desirable. Travelling time is lost time as far as businesses are concerned, so cutting it down makes financial sense as does the inevitable expenses bill.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
