The Bristol saga is not likely to be finished yet. Opponents are almost certain to apply to the High Court for a judicial review of the planning inspectors' decision. If granted the matter would then be in the hands of a judge who would look at the way the decision was made, not whether or not he or she agreed with the decision.

Any news of the Parkway station? I take it that this project along with associated roads is not affected by the outcome of the Public Inquiry. The station for Inverness is now underway!

When you look at the 3 airports, stansted, bristol and leeds its leeds that really should be given the green light first, like we have mentioned on here its modernisation and not really expansion to create a modern eco friendly future and would all be part of the so called levelling up. Its beyond me whats happening, i try to just laugh it all off but as a big supporter of LBA its painful!!

I have just given up on the whole thing to be honest. Whether it's planes, train or trams, no bugger gives a monkeys about this side of the Pennines. And all the MPs want to do is jump on the big cycling bandwagon. Even the Highway Code has been changed!! On yer bike to the lot of them!!

As a driving instructor here Dont even get me started on the highway code changes! Allowing cyclist to cycle in the middle of the lane and giving priority to pedestrians at juncs is beyond levels of stupidity!

I thought the highway code already advised you when turning into/out of junctions to give way to pedestrians?

Only if already crossing I believe. Now we have to give way and stop all the traffic behind on a main road if pedestrians are stood on the footpath waiting to cross a side road. Only a matter of time before there's a serious accident perhaps a truck running into the back of a car that has to stop in the main road waiting to turn left into a side road.

The Inquiry will reject the new terminal on the grounds it’s in West Yorkshire! On a different note, I see that despite the millions being spent on cycle lanes it’s still not mandatory that cyclists use them. What a load of &@£? (insert as appropriate) bureaucrats we have making decisions these days. Whatever happened to common sense?

The problem is that cycle lanes need sweeping on a regular basis. Theres too much debris especially broken glass in many of them to be safe. Add to that urban cycle paths weave around bus stops and other obstructions and move from one side of the road to the other so it takes far longer than using the main carriageway.

From today’s Daily Telegraph
“Campaigners have criticised the Government’s decision to overrule a local authority and approve the expansion of Bristol airport.
The Planning Inspectorate said it recognised the “major disappointment” opponents will feel, but that the benefits will outweigh the harm to green belt land.
Airport bosses welcomed the decision, which will see capacity increase from 10 million passengers per year to 12 million.
North Somerset MP Liam Fox said he was “hugely disappointed” at the appeal being allowed. North Somerset Council is considering if there are grounds to fight the decision.”

Same reason given for approval as was given at Stansted.

LBA as the smallest airport out of the bunch will probably be refused planning for the new terminal due to "environmental concerns", the same concern that were no concern for Manchester, Stansted or Bristol airports. We might as well build a big dome over Leeds and call it the Yeadon Project where our little micro climate of stagnation rules.

The inquiry will consider the application against the legislation, guidance and advice prevailing at the inquiry date, which may not be the same as when LCC made their decision. Time for the ‘goalposts to be moved’ knowing Leeds’ luck.

Sadly I fear this will not end up being a positive outcome. It’s an absolute joke of a decision. This so called levelling up of The North is so Manchester focused it’s unreal. Leeds and it’s immediate surrounding area don’t stand a cat in hells chance. It is just so unfair. I think we all know the score so no point in disallusioning ourselves that a different outcome will happen. So LBA - original Terminal expansion plans it needs to be. And as has been said many times before, it’s the do-gooders and environmentalists that well and truly lose then. Happy Saturday to all us amazing Yorkshire folk!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
