What about such papers as The Huddersfield Examiner, Halifax Courier, or the Craven News?

The Media in north Yorkshire would be a sensible area to target, esp Harogate, Knaresborough and ripon heading upto the north east as LBA is a key airport for those living in them areas.

Off top of me head the "LBA Support Group" Statement was sent out to all the following outlets via email or twitter. In quite a few cases both, The maybe others that I've missed.

If you know of any where else to send this to either please let me know on here or via the LBA Support Group Twitter feed, failing that you could always send one yourself, so I've attached a copy of the PDF Document to this post. Thanks

WH is correct, although it may sometimes not appear to be the case, planning applications are not determined on the basis of support v opposition! Representations of support and objection and the points which they raise (where relevant and valid) are a material consideration and must be addressed in the planning balance. However, in the case of this application the greatest weight will be given to the points highlighted in the 'fact sheet' published by LBA and re-iterated in the LBA Support Group Statement:
- In particular the national and local policies which support the development of LBA
- The planning consents which LBA has for its current and proposed operations
- Consent for the extension to the terminal which constitutes a fall back position which is inferior operationally and environmentally to the new proposal
- The issue of aviation CO2 emissions which is not for local determination

I hope that the extension of the period for representations is to head off any grounds for a deferral of a decision/challenge when the application is finally considered by LCC.

Would it be worth putting the statement on to Facebook community websites like: Pudsey Born and Bread, Farsley Community, Horsforth Community, etc?Especially with an emphasised point that the terminal currently is inadequate (which everyone who's flown from LBA knows) and that a new one would offer more flights and airlines? I think would be enough for general pax to support the terminal. When I have spoke to family and friends they happily signed simply because the terminal is sh*t!!!!!!

They would moan about increased traffic even though the LBA airport terminal development has nothing to do with increased traffic but more to do with the constant and never ending building of new houses with a road network that was adequate for the 1960's and has never been modified since.

I don’t think targeting Wakefield and Huddersfield areas would go a miss either, Wakefield Express would be a good start if somebody could contact? I’ve seen a few support messages from Wakefield area.

I am in the Pudsey and Farsley groups so will speak to the admin tomorrow about a post.

If anyone is involved in any other groups such as Horsforth, Kirkstal, Ilkley, Guisley and so on could they reach out to admin or post the statement?

I think if we really emphasise to general customers of the airport that new airlines will be interested in LBA, there will be more retail outlets, a larger more efficient building, etc it may work.

I'm just wary that the comment section might be very full and argumentative on facebook ,but no new comments will appear on the LCC application.

Facebook half the time is a waste of time, I just seem to end up arguing with clueless people! but there are a few educated ones that do understand and its those ones where im asking them politely if they would just leave a small support comment on the LCC Website. Like pointed out on here if we get the message across that they will be more flights to the popular holiday destinations at potentially a lower price, plus new routes to other popular places that are not currently served from Leeds then the general public im sure would want to hear that!

I honestly think LBA should say look, we're expanding to 7m passengers. If you don't want a BREEAM standard carbon neutral terminal we'll just proceed with the previous plans to allow 7m passengers with already approved plans. It's that simple.

The trouble the council has here is so many people are thinking they are stopping airport expansion, but they are not. They had their chance to stop expansion two years ago but they didn't. New proposals that are frankly so much better, and they suddenly notice LBA.

I have just sent Rachael Reeves a really poop email as she is my local MP, finishing it off with I won’t vote for you ever again
Mind you I do t expect a reply just like I had none from LCC councillors

An MP has a lot of clout but I honestly think the airport has a case here if the council refuse the application based on it's merits. This is not NEW expansion it's several years old and two years old prior to the Paris agreement.

Rachel Reeves Leeds West MP has put in a formal objection letter.

I’ve sent her a message on the Facebook Groups post she proudly announced it on.

It boils my piss!!
Just submitted my comment on her Facebook page, she obviously hasn't bothered to check any facts about the new terminal thinking this is purely about expending passenger numbers from 4m to 7m. The airport already has this planning permission for extending the old terminal. This gives us the opportunity to build a carbon neutral brand new terminal which the region desperately needs. No doubt she will remove my post from her Facebook account but I will just keep reposting it if needed.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
