Thanks for the clarification Aviador.

Not trying to threaten anyone just highlighting the need for care on some subjects, so apologies if it comes across that way.
Welcome to the forum Superleeds123.

I am a member of the Airport Consultative Committee and frequently contact LBA management on behalf of the members of this forum to seek clarification or their views, especially when something like this is reported. I did so regarding this reported delay last week and although the delay was not set in stone, they did confirm that due to the complexity of the application, it now looked likely to be the new year before a decision was taken.

The fact the airport application is not on the agenda for next week's planning meeting is public knowledge and it's possible that due to Christmas, there might not be another meeting before January. Also public I believe, is the fact that the planning officers recommendation and final report is not yet on the planning portal which is a good indication that no decision is imminent.

The entire planning process is publicly viewable and therefore not really quite as 'sensitive' as you suggest.

Thanks White Heather.

It seems to be delay after delay with this now. Fingers crossed for some better news in 2021!

I believe, and of course I may be wrong, that just repeating a comment made by another member (however much we want to believe that post or not) isn't too helpful as it can only encourage questions and debate for which there is no answer. Even if there is a source, which can't be revealed for confidentiality reasons, such comment, I believe, isn't beneficial, particularly on a subject as potentially controversial as this.

Please don't mistake this post as being a direct criticism as that is not the intention but I think these sort of issues are best left until such time as an 'official' word is forthcoming.

We all have opinions which we are free to offer through the forum which of course, depending on the views of others, may result in a debate on the merits or otherwise of the ideas being put forward.

In relation to when a decision is likely. The first meeting in the New Year of the City Plans Panel is scheduled for 7th January. The Council’s website states- “The agenda for each Plans Panel Meeting is published no later than five working days before it takes place“. This is when the final officer report and recommendation will be formally available. Prior to that interested parties, including the applicant, may be aware of the report’s likely content and the likely recommendation. However, until it is finally published it is purely speculation. The New Year does extend beyond January and the Panel meets every month so January may pass, by!!!

I think you are referring to a report on the portal which later turned out to originate from LBAs consultants rather than the Council's own Planning Officer. I don't think his/her final report and recommendation is known yet, outside of the Civic Hall anyway.

Thank you WH, your understanding of this complex information on the planning portal is really appreciated.

FFS!!! What a load of bollocks. Saying that people should stay here and spend money in the local economy instead of going on cheap flights broad. OK, lets all got the beach at Barnsley, Costa Doncaster or a luxury cruise on Scammonden Reservoir. So why not try to discourage people from travelling over the hill to spend their hard earned readies at the car parks, bars and restaurants at Manchester Airport then??

Seems they’re afraid the economic argument for approving the new terminal is going to win the day so this appears to be last minute propaganda from a charity (yes it’s got charitable status!) whose mission seems totally anti-capitalist to change our current system with, naturally, climate change thrown in.

Seriously I dont think it will be long either before we have congestion charging on the M62!
Seems that to replace the lost revenue from fuel duty once we’re whizzing round in our shiny new electric cars one of the ideas being floated is road charging with £1.50 per mile being suggested. Hopefully that’s a misprint since from where I live it would cost £28.50 to get to LBA and back and £108 for a round trip to Manchester. At that rate non of us will be going anywhere!

I just hope that if this all goes pear shape and we end up with no new terminal, and the airlines all disappear over the hill and down to Donny that these individuals feel really proud of all the jobs they have destroyed and all the excess carbon emissions created as a result of extra journeys over the M62 or down the A1.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
