Taxi rank I can see the logic, the price of the official taxis is extortionate and this should lower prices for customers (albeit make taxis more attractive relative to public transport so a bit hypocritical). Will cost the airport since presumably they won't get such a cut, but on balance it's no bad thing to have a taxi rank.

They only need a detailed plan of demolition or other use for the old terminal. Achievable and sensible.

I didn't see the debate on linking flying hours to opening of the terminal. I'm not sure why it couldn't be linked to construction... This could be a hit for the airport's plans

However overall an approval with achievable conditions so good news.

Onto the next phase, govt approval next!

I’m not exactly up on the whole thing, I thought it was done on the 11th February but then we had conditions to amend.

Does this 9-5 vote today mean it’s through the plans panel or will we have to deal with another round of this horse s***!?

Did they each individual councillor vote the same as before? And as everyone else is asking has this been finally approved no more negotiating to mean another vote?

As I understand it the motion to approve was given subject to;
Extended flight times not until new terminal built
Hard plan for future demolition/use of old terminal
Provision of a taxi rank for Hackney carriages.

Seems reasonable.

Now going for a lie down.
surely the LBA team will be happy with them amendments, once again a long draw out repetitive meeting with a quick 2min vote at the end. they voted on two amendments both were 9-5 i believe.

It has been approved and the finalising of the conditions has been delegated to the City Planning Officer in consultation with the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Panel. It then has to be referred to the Secretary of State because of the scale of the development in the green belt. If the SoS doesn't wish to intervene then LCC can issue the decision.

To be clear guys

Has the planning apllication being signed off as approved and sent to the Secretary of State?

Or will they have to be another plans panel committee meeting to sort out these conditions?
Seriously confusing...

I really hope this has passed on to the government. I cannot deal with another one of these ridiculous meetings.

Possibly but there had been talk of it moving, with the fire station to maybe South Side.
As far as I heard they didn't say demolition, just that there has to be a firm plan for the future of the building. So it's just not possible at this stage to say if that will include tower or not. My take is that it would be ridiculously expensive to build a new tower so unlikely to happen

As long as LCC are realistic about the time frame for demolition. I suspect the airport will be strapped for cash for a few years. New office buildings and control towers dont come cheap. Theres going to be an awkward discussion with arrow coming up as well.

how is the blood pressure mines in the red,i think a large whiskey is called for.

It's not good , particularly as today I took my car in for its first service and within 5 minutes if picking it up, had a puncture, so had to go sort that too.

If this truly is approval, without further reference to the panel, then it's great news though frankly, expected. It's no surprise that it was 9-5 again. And as we all know, there is still the Minister to get past, and a potential Judicial Review attempt . Even so, it's a definite 'up yours' to GALBA and a second victory for common sense. We now need the same from the Minister. Why would he call in a plan that is in accordance with Government Aviation policy?

Anyway,. is it no change in daytime hours until after terminal opening, or no additional flights? They are not the same thing at all. Not sure how you could even limit the number of flights anyway! Additional to what? 2019 which was a busy year? Or last year which was rubbish. I can see them refusing the change of hours until completion, but can't see how flights can be limited.

So that's what the airport offered anyway. They said they would develop a masterplan for the old terminal in consultation with the council, and it is their intention to build a new tower, but as you say expensive, do unlikely until after the terminal scheme is completed. They will need planning consent for that too, so now LCC will need to approve it or delay the old terminal demolition - which is exactly what they don't want to do. Same with a new fire station, and new admin offices will also be required. LBA are far from finished!

I would think Arrows contract will be up by the time the terminal is open so the contract can be offered to two taxi companies next time, one Hackney Carriage and one Mini cab such as Arrow. It should drive down costs so a smart move by the Council to insist.

I can't see it lowering prices. Private hire is nearly always cheaper than Hackney. I’ve just had a quick google and found that a Hackney carriage taxi from Leeds Station to the airport is about £28. No thanks, I'll be using private hire or the bus

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
