A toilet is a toilet, as long as they are clean (and work) does it matter who uses them?

In case it wasn't obvious, my post was very much tongue in cheek. Personally, I don't see it as a requirement that there are dedicated toilets for the Executive Lounge, but obviously some people do. What I would see as an issue is paying premium prices to use the Executive Lounge and then be faced with having to go outside and queue (as we women often have to do) within the main terminal areas or to use a facility that is not up to standard for whatever reason. The key point here is that that wherever they are located, ALL toilets should be up to standard, all of the time and there should be enough of them to avoid having to queue, even at peak times. The terminal should have an Occupancy Assessment which should indicate how many male and female toilets are required to meet the maximum number of people likely to be in any area of the building at peak times. As the passenger numbers increase, so should the toilet facilities. And that is my final contribution on this topic :) and I will now bog off on to other matters.

Have to say we departed LBA on Wednesday the 5th October having previouly been through the airport on Saturday the 17th September.
What a difference a few weeks and a week day meant. We hit security within minutes each visit around 5am, in September an hour to get through security in October a straight non stop walk, only the time to walk through.
On our return yester day had the long walk from gate13 walk straight through passport control with no wait and the cases on belt one as we arrived in the baggage hall all at 2pm.

To answer your question lbaspotter, the bogs in my local drinking establishment make the LBA toilets look like the Ritz!!

Now what I want to know .... Is it worth booking the executive lounge next week or save my brass?
In quiet times think they offer an hour for a tenner... Nice way to trial it, get your fill and is probably about the right amount of time...

ihi seasider
re using lba lounge
it depends on your flight time, lounge opens at 05-00,we like the lounge and always try and use it,there are 2 lounges the one to the right is a family lounge and for people wearing shorts and football shirts etc
the one on the left is the business class and tidy dress code lounge they are both well worth the money
a nice way to start your holls.
regards

Seasider: We have flown twice in the last 6 weeks from LBA at the peak early morning time. Certainly would have been a waste of money to pay for the Executive Lounge if being guaranteed a seat the reason, on the 5th October virtually every seat around gate 10 was empty and the few sitting there left for the Amsterdam flight. I had my normal walk round and there were seats everywhere.
On Saturday 17th September, whilst it took an hour to get through security plenty of seats available as from 5.45am a flight called every 10 minutes freeing up seats all the time.
Certainly on the 17th wished we had paid for fast track clearence through security, the queue was back to the Jet2 booking area, however, there was also a queue down the fast track line which stretched back from the x ray machines to the boarding card reader access point, so even here I suggest a 15 minute queue time, it certainly was not a walk through situation.

I booked the lounge last night for a couple of hours before the afternoon LHR flight. I am anticipating it will be relatively quiet as most of the "sun" flights are on single day operation.
Assuming I get on line whilst away, I will post my views.

I wouldn't hold your breath Seasider, it's so difficult to predict the busy days at the airport at the moment. Jet2's Rhodes earlier this week went with 1 pax on the 75, and Monarch Dalaman went with 2 pax onboard!!
Later that afternoon the terminal was rammed, so given it's still half term this weekend it could sway either way... made even worse by the upwards escalator not working in the main departures area.

The lounge is such a good option before travelling especially if you're there for your full 2 hour allocation!

Yesterday morning's Yorkshire Post published a nice article with LBA's Tony Hallwood for once...

Tony Hallwood: Our efforts to improve Leeds Bradford Airport are taking off

A plane lands at Leeds Bradford Airport.

LEEDS Bradford Airport has successfully grown its passenger numbers over the last few years through introducing new airlines and services that serve the Leeds City Region – and wider Yorkshire region. We are confident of our continued success, while recognising the need to plan how the terminal infrastructure should be now developed to cope with this growing demand.

Noticed as I left the airport car park last week, instead of throwing my money in the large bin had to place my £1 coins in a slot for the new ticket machines, a lot slower operation.
With the exisiting £1 coin being withdrawn from circulation next year I hope these machines can take the new multi sided coin replacing it. The new machines seemed as bad as the old ones at rejecting your coins, I had to have about four goes to put my £3 in.

Very interesting read and a good set of figures for the airport. Makes you wonder what Bridgepoint Capital are up to with the planned refinancing?

AIRPORT TO LAND REFINANCE AND OUTSTRIP RECORDS

Leeds-Bradford.jpg

Leeds Bradford Airport has revealed it is in talks with potential lenders about a refinance and is on track to outstrip current passenger and turnover records.

In newly filed accounts for the year to 31 March 2016, the airport said it was in talks with potential lenders about a refinance, with its current facilities set to expire in March 2017.

Given its growth expectations, the business, which has been backed by Bridgepoint Capital for almost a decade, was confident of agreeing a deal on or before that date.

Record turnover of £29.5m, up 6 per cent, was reported for the year after passenger numbers climbed to best-ever heights of 3.48 million.

Underlying EBITDA was up 38 per cent at £7m and losses narrowed from £8m to £3.8m.

The record performance was supported by 13 airline partners who served 64 destinations, while a number of capital investments, including additional boarding gates, were made during the year.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director Leeds Bradford Airport, said: "Leeds Bradford Airport is pleased to report strong passenger traffic, delivering 5 per cent growth across our airline portfolio, which in turn has driven an improved financial performance."

Writing in the accounts, the airport's directors forecast that passenger numbers in 2016/17 would exceed the current record. Further financial improvement is also expected.

Looking beyond 2016/17, Leeds Bradford said it had already secured "significant capacity growth" from Jet2.com and Ryanair for summer 2017 with the majority of this capacity already being on sale.

Bridgepoint acquired Leeds Bradford for £181m in 2007 following a decision by five West Yorkshire councils to privatise the airport to ensure its continued expansion and an improved service for passengers.

With interest rates likley to rise, Feel sure they will be looking for a long term agreement at todays low rates.
Trump during his election campaign accused janet Yellen of keeping interests rates low to keep the Democrats in power.
Now looks like he may make the democrat boss of JP Morgan Treasury Secretary, would be like Mrs May making Ed Balls Chancellor, this guy thinks outside the box.

The hoardings have been taken down to the right of the main entrance showing the area where the car rental desks used to be and the clear windows. A new floor has also been built above the originally opened up area between Check-in hall A and the entrance to security, although there is still more work to do in that area.View attachment 4292

A pic at last well done B737. loving the minimal Christmas decorations to the far right. But to be correct that should say decoration. Looks loads better.

I agree, and wait a minute, do I see seats there? LBA is finally listening to it's users!

Can't afford decorations with the expense of the improvements! :cigar:

Will have a look when I use the airport in the middle of January.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
