Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
I'm hoping that with the A330 arriving and adding capacity to trunk routes, thus releasing the aircraft that served the routes this year, we may see a new route or 2.

They have added Berlin to the LBA schedule quite a time after the W16 announcement came, so, there's a good chance to see extra routes from Jet2 (I don't want Berlin though, it's now adequately served in my opinion with Easyjet 9 weekly and Ryanair daily).

As reported in the LBA thread, 2 new routes with Jet2 in 2017.

Almeira 2 weekly from April
Thessaloniki 2 weekly from May

2017 slowly building up.

Thought they may have added Verona from MAN for 2017. They fly there from most of their large base airports, and you would think it would fit in well with their Jet2 holiday product.

Jet2 have grown by 43% in the last three years and are now the number two airline at MAN (in terms of seats) behind Ryanair and ahead of Thomson.

Impressive stuff 👍

The article makes a good read.

Jet2 today announced the acquisition of a maintenance hangar at Manchester. I expect it's the one recently vacated by Monarch although I'm happy to be corrected.

It would be fitting if some of Monarch's former boys and girls could find employment there, if they so wish.

It's good to see this facility will continue for now. Longer term who knows, but Jet2 continue to grow and a facility that can maintain and repair B737-8 should have a large market.

I don't know if Jet2 have plans for third party work. The existing fleet keeps the Engineers busy enough and the hangar has been purchased to bring more work in-house as the fleet expands.

Link to the Evening News article regarding the recruitment:

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...ews/jet2-pilot-cabin-jobs-manchester-11822982

Roughly a third of the 1000 new jobs nationwide are earmarked for here:

"Budget airline Jet2 is to create more than 300 jobs at Manchester Airport as it prepares to launch new routes. The carrier, which operates 48 routes from Manchester, needs to fill around around 310 pilot, cabin crew and engineering roles based at the airport as part of its expansion programme."

Looks like the leased Titan A321 will be returning for S17.

"More than 700,000 seats are now on sale from Manchester Airport to a choice of 24 winter sun, cool cities and ski destinations across the Mediterranean and Europe, an impressive 15% uplift on this year.

Next winter will see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays operate their biggest ever winter sun programme from Manchester Airport, with almost 400,000 seats to winter sun destinations, a 24% increase.

This includes huge growth to the Canary Islands, with up to 20 weekly flights and 200,000 seats in total. As well as massive expansion to Paphos (+126%) and Larnaca (+76%), the programme also sees strong growth and extended programmes to popular winter sun destinations such as Alicante (seven weekly flights, including two flights on Saturdays), Malaga (four weekly flights) and Majorca (three weekly flights)."

Jet2 is to take over all its own handling at MAN in the near future (November?). This vertical integration will give them total control over quality and customer experience. MAN is now their largest operational base surpassing LBA. Expectation is for 17 based units in Summer 2017. The Jet2 hangar at MAN (recently acquired from Monarch) is to be repainted in Jet2 corporate red. Should be suitably eyecatching!

Info comes courtesy of Rad Taylor's presentation to TAS earlier this evening.

Just won a free flight anywhere on the Jet2 network! Never win anything like that me.

Only issue is, it's one return flight, so, as we are a family of 4, will have to use swap for £200 off a Jet2 holiday. Probably go to Ibiza.

Well done! Better than a kick in the teeth.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
