Yes thats right, i know that Privatair have all business config A319 & 737bbj with larger fuel tanks - 1 baggage hold..

Thanks guys - by the way, I am currently in Montreal, Canada! Do not be surprised if you don't hear much from me over the next couple of weeks (no cheering please).

Have a great time.

You must be relieved that you got there ash-free.

It's reportedly returning to UK airspace over the next couple of days.

You are not wrong Local Yokel and I see that it is back today with all Northern flights grounded from 1pm. At least the wind is supposed to turn to the SW from Tuesday and blow the ash away and I hope it stays away too so I can fly home on the 27th/28th.

Thanks for your best wishes too!!

I wonder if LUFC will use this for their away matches at Cardiff, Swansea and Portsmouth next season??

Not Bristol then? :shok:

Sorry LocalYokel, I genuinely forgot about Bristol City. I wonder how much they will be charging for hire??

No worries Bigman. You aren't alone.

It's what we like to hear.

We nearly sneaked into the Prem two seasons ago and only failed when the geriatric Dean Windass (he must be nearly as old as me) pinged one in at the Wembley play-off final to get Hull City into the Prem instead of Bristol City, with Sky Sports saying the club was out of its depth every week.

I contribute to a football message board and often tell visiting fans that if they are afraid of cows not to come to Bristol as many of these bovine creatures still roam the streets and that for a small country town the place does well to have a Championship club.

Bristol City, unlike say Cardiff City, rarely seem to use aircraft to get to away matches though last season the likes of Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Ipswich flew into Bristol Airport.

Somerset CCC also flew from Bristol for a match in Scotland earlier this year and Cardiff City used easyJet from BRS to get to Lisbon for a pre-season training camp a year ago.

Cardiff City seem to use Air Southwest as their team bus for away matches.

Getting back to the subject, the Multiflight 737 looks a cracker. It would certainly knock spots of the Dash 8-300s as a team transport.

I don't know what LUFC's financial position is now - I remember that the Ridsdale (spelling?) regime cost the club plenty - and whether they would run to such a top notch aircraft for a 40-50 minute run south.

Can anyone tell me anything about the Multiflight cafe bar?

http://www.multiflight.com/cafe-bar/index.php

Is it open to members of the general public or just for those visiting Multiflight? Also, how good is the viewing area? I remember the last time I was round that way, I visited Infoserve HQ and was surprised how close it was to the runway.

whoshotjimmi, from personal experience the Multiflight Cafe is fantastic. It is slightly pricey but is open to the general public. Just recently I have found that it has become very popular with enthusiasts, both who are taking flying lessons, through Multiflight, or just general people who sit and have a coffee.

You can sit outside and can view departing and arriving aircraft fine. The Multiflight Hanger restricts you from viewing the main apron from stands 6/7 onwards, whether you are sat inside or out, but you can see everything that passes around the Alpha2/Alpha taxiway. If the weather is poor, which it often is, you can sit inside and view from the conservatory area, but there are only 2/3 tables that are in this prime spot, so you are fortunate to get these on a wet/cold day.
The viewing area around Multiflight is great. Again the Multiflight hangers get in the way from you viewing the arrivals on 32 and the factory for arrivals on 14 but you can view a large proportion of the runway and the whole apron if you are sat in the row of cars and taxi's that sit watching the flights along the road to Multiflight.

I'm not quite sure where the Infoserve HQ is, but if it is on the main airport side, as Multiflight is opposite to the terminal on the other side of the runway, then you may not get as good a view, as you might from the HQ.

I'm sure your aware of many of the possible viewing area's but here's a link the Lbaspotters's website, or so I am to presume it is his, on where the best viewing area's are around LBA:

(My personal best is the cemetary - great which-ever Rwy is in use but better if Rwy14 is being used.

Have a great trip, and I do hope the weather is great for you.

Excellent! I often find myself getting itchy pants whilst sat around waiting for the next movement and lament the lack of cafe etc. I shall certainly give it a try but it shall have to wait until after my holiday now.

With regards to spotting, I have been to all the places listed and concur that the cemetry is the best place. Just to add one, if I may, to that list, is the Royalty Pub by surprise view. Excellent overview of the airfield from afar which is especially good when 14 is in use as landing a/c fly close by. Coupled with a nice evening and a cold pint and you are laughing.

ooo, I've completely forgotten about the Royalty Pub!! I haven’t been in a while, so will definitely go, as it's probably closer for me, than the actual airport!

Have a great trip!

Was in the Multiflight Cafe last Fri pm. Pot of Tea for two and a scone cost £3. I thought it was excellent value for money.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
