Back with my feet firmly on the ground and my head out of the clouds, the summer 2013 season is a long way off and we're unlikely to see any substantial commitment or announcements before winter 2012/13.

When I was chatting with Tony H back in December, they were already in discussions for summer 13. Tour operators are generally planning one to two seasons ahead. Of course, planning and signing on the dotted line and going public are two different things, especially for TCX which is a struggling company, in a struggling market in an uncertain economic outlook. It's always been true in aviation that bigger airports do better when the economy struggles and smaller airports pick up business when the outlook is rosier and businesses are more prepared to take risks. I do believe there is plan for TCX to expand at LBA, but if and when will be very much dependant on their own fortunes as a business and the performance of the wider economy.

Its probably that the Winter timetables are under-going updates on the websites, or that they haven't been put on at all yet.

I wouldn't rely on brochures too much as they Tour Operators can go through several editions until they have a finalised schedule..

They are pushing it quite late, as often by now, they handle all of their Winter scheduling before the busy Summer season starts..!

Just for anyone interested todays A321 from Tunisia was G-NIKO which landed in a heavy rain storm on runway 32 and took off on runway 14.

I really hope that it just because they haven't been put in the systems yet...but TC are showing NO flights at all from LBA for summer 2013. All other UK airports are there except LBA.

Can confirm that Thomas Cook are still loading Summer 2013 programme into there systems at the moment and so Holidays will be available for booking from early May. The official line from Thomas Cook today on there Facebook pages is saying the following:

http://www.facebook.com/thomascook
Thomas Cook UK Hi, our summer 2013 prices will be out around the start of May :) -Paul-

So I would just say hold you horses for the time been, As you can only book holidays up to the end of the winter 2012/13 programme from any UK Airport they serve.

Mmmmm....So why are there no Winter 2012-13 flights there either. Surely they should be on sale by now?

Well i sent them the following message earlier this afternoon:

Will Thomas Cook be operating flights from Leeds/Bradford next summer 2013? Just worried seen as LBA has disappeared as a departure airport while other UK airports now have there Holidays on sale.

They have now replied to my quirey with the following statement:

Thomas Cook UK Hi Ross,
We are offering holidays from Leeds Bradford Airport.
Please see http://bit.ly/Is16tp for flight schedules.
-Claire-

So by going by there reply message. I would say that they have still not loaded the full summer 2013 programme on to there site. But if you look in the following 2013 Boucher as they pointed out to me. Flights are/or will be available with Thomas Cook next summer. This could be the same reason why winter flights are not showing up online but are all listed in there winter sun 2012/13 Boucher's.

Thanks for that lbaspotter. I've just checked the 2013 TC brochures online and LBA flights are there. Looks like they're the same as this year.

Thomas Cook dont really have a strong winter operation do they away?

That's very true, it's not as strong as other airlines, but it's better than nothing..!

I know many people who use the; Lanzarote, Tenerife, Fuerteventura routes, so they are still valued never the less..

Just to add to your info xboy999. I understand the full Thomas Cook summer 2013 programme is been uploaded on there there website as I type this message and that all summer 2013 holidays should be on sale by at least Sunday, May 6th.

Hope that helps.

Well most of Thomas Cooks summer 2013 has now been loaded on to there website over the weekend but flights and holidays from Leeds/Bradford still don't appear bookable yet.

They have just posted the following message on there facebook page:

Thomas Cook UK Hi,
I have checked our Summer 2013 brochures and there are flights from Leeds Bradford planned however these have not yet been confirmed.
Please keep checking our website as when these are confirmed they will show online.
You can also call our Travel Advisors on 0844 879 8400.

What is interesting is the fact that flights are planned but have not been confirmed yet, So I guess they are still in talks with the airports management regarding the next summer's programme and associated fees.

Look on the bright side - it could be a sign of expansion from their usual programme, which barely changes from year to year. It will be interesting to see how TCX react the the fact that TOM's interest in LBA appears to be on the increase again, and whether they fight back or not.

They better fight back, we still need that thomas cook logo amongst those jet2 ones

Nothing available for HUY yet either. Its quite concerning.

Edit; Unless of course they are looking at expanding their lot, or if there may be some kind of tie-in between the LBA based aircraft and HUY somehow. However I am not optimistic in this case.

You never know something may come HUY way, after MAG and Monarch have a good relationship, so you could see 4 or 5 destinations from HUY using a LBA based aircraft, that is if monarch do set up a base at LBA.

+ Thomas Cook.

DSA now removed from Thomas Cook booking engine for S13 holidays.. Certainly something is going on, perhaps they are going to make a move to DSA now that Monarch and TUI appear to be making a move back into LBA? That would mean they no longer need to operate from HUY either.

I don't think they will give up on LBA, too much of an investment over last few years for them.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
