Somebody has just sent the following message to Thomas Cook on there Get satisfaction customer page this afternoon:

Source: http://customer-community.thomascoo...tm_medium=email&utm_source=reply_notification

Hi , Is there an update on wether Thomas Cook will be flying out of LBA in 2013 , Thanx

With-in minutes they replied with the following message:

Hi
We should have confirmation of these flights at the start of August.
Kind Regards
Paul

It looks a little more promising compared to there earlier replies last month that they sent to me.

Well its almost half way through August, and still no holidays available from LBA beyond November 2012, so yet again the dates given when the 2013 offering would be available from LBA turns out to be wide of the mark. The people working for Thomas Cook must really feel bad when they continually give out information (in good faith) that turns out to be incorrect. A perfect lesson in how not to keep your customers happy!

Thomas Cook are now stating that their full programme from LBA for 2013 will be on sale at the beginning of September!! So we have gone from May, to August and now September. Its like waiting for the Leeds United takeover. Has Ken Bates bought Thomas Cook????

Has Ken Bates bought Thomas Cook????

Is he not a reincarnation of Thomas Cook, Heather?

The TCX saga is long drawn out though, isn't it?

Well it sure dose now looks like Thomas Cook Holidays have done a deal to take seat allocations on some of Monarch Scheduled new flights from Leeds/Bradfor for there next summer 2013 programme.

So far on sale with Thomas Cook Holidays
Majorca (Palma) = Tuesday & Saturdays
Menorca (Mahon) = Monday & Fridays
Tenerife = Tuesday & Fridays
Cyprus (Larnaca) = Wednesday & Sundays
Algarve (Faro) = Tuesday & Saturdays
Turkey (Antalya) = Sundays
Turkey (Dalaman) = Tuesday & Saturdays

Its a shame that there is no sign of any of Thomas Cooks Airlines own metal appearing at LBA next summer, and looks like they wont be dealing with Jet2 anymore. On a sadder note this confirms that the airlines base at LBA will be closing down in October.

Well its as expected then. It seemed obvious several months ago that this is what would happen, as it guarantees Thomas Cook continuing to sell holidays and also helps guarantee that Monarch have full aircraft, particularly given that Cosmos Holidays are also now selling from LBA on all the routes that Monarch are flying.

Yes its a pity we won't see TCX aircraft at LBA, but they have pulled the plug at LBA before and come back, so if they buck their ideas up and reduce their costs, they might be back in a few years. There is still time too for the odd flight to be programmed in using a W leg TCX machine.

Overall, its still a net gain in terms of movements and passenger figures for LBA, so a step forward.

It is sad news, but Thomas Cook could've quite easily pulled out of LBA altogether, so the fact seat allocations are being taken is overall good news!

Looking at the flights that Lbaspotter has posted, the offering is a lot better than what they could have offered from their based aircraft, so lets hope people still continue to book through Thomas Cook and continue to enjoy their holidays!

We are losing one TCX machine, but overall we are gaining so many more new and different airlines next summer, so that is something to look forward to!

I've just come back from Antalya and I wanted to know how many people were on the outbound flight on the 29th of August as it was about 2/3's full but the return flight was full. Also, I am very impressed with the new departure lounge.

Last time I looked LBA was still ahead of DSA in terms of destinations served. Personally I feel sure that if/when TCX get over their financial problems, they will be back at LBA proper. They have closed their base here before and returned and I think they know that LBA is not an airport they can afford to let go.

I also suspect that there is still a chance that they will increase their summer 2013 offering further, possibly on Monarch and possibly with a continuing association with Jet2. That would be a separate contract to the Monarch contract so likely to be announced separately in a later brochure.

We shall see!

Good news as I now see Thomas Cook Holiday's have updated there Winter 2012/2013 flights/holiday offerings from Leeds-Bradford.
Up until now, all we known was that the companies in-house airlines base is been closed at the end of October and that they have been showing nothing available to book. But it looks as though they have done a deal to take a seat allocation on some of Jet2's scheduled flights.
As the Thomas Cook website now has holidays on offer from Leeds to Tenerife, Arrecife (Lanzarote), Faro (Algarve) and Malaga (Costa del sol) on sale.

That is good news!

It should also mean that the seating capacity on some of the routes TCX didn't operate, being; Faro and Malaga should be higher, which in turn can only be good news for Jet2 and the figures on their aircraft!

Well it now looks like Thomas Cook Holidays will be taking seat allocations on both Monarch Airlines and Jet2 scheduled flights next summer 2013 season from Leeds-Bradford. As more destinations have been added to the Thomas Cook Holidays website today.

Monarch will operate the following
Majorca - (Palma) = Tuesday & Saturdays
Menorca - (Mahon) = Monday & Fridays
Tenerife - (South) = Tuesday & Fridays
Arrecife – (Lanzarote) = Monday & Thursdays
Cyprus - (Larnaca) = Wednesday & Sundays
Algarve - (Faro) = Tuesday & Saturdays
Turkey - (Antalya) = Sundays
Turkey - (Dalaman) = Tuesday & Saturday
Heraklion – (Crete) = Wednesday & Saturdays

Meanwhile Jet2 will offer the following
Ibiza = Daily
Las Palmas – (Gran Canaria) = Monday & Thursdays
Arrecife – (Lanzarote) = Sunday
Alicante – (Costa Blanca) = Daily
Malaga – (Costa del Sol) = Daily
Corfu = Mondays
Heraklion – (Crete) = Tuesday & Fridays

This was my quote from 6 weeks ago, so this news is very much as I expected. Whilst it remains a shame that TCX will not be seen, this does mean that Thomas Cook clients once again have the choice of 14 destinations, which has to be good for them and again, it helps guarantee full loads on the ZB and LS flights out of LBA next summer. Overall, a positive outcome from a somewhat negative sitation.

I've just checked the Thos Cook website and there appears to be no flights or holidays available to Tenerife in winter by TCX or Jet2 operating for them. First flights are not until May 2013.

I wonder if Thomas Cook might have already filled there seat allocations from LBA this winter season.

Dont forget if No Thomas Cook holidays or flights are no longer bookable you could try Thomson Holidays, Jet2 and Ryanair who will be flying the Leeds-Bradford to Tenerife route this winter season.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
