A UK carier should be announcing some UK expansion this coming week, which should hopefully include the return of an Irish destination to the LBA route network.

Tuesday I understand for the announcement Said airline will also axe a route from Leeds.

Well Ryanair are an Irish carrier, and LS16 said a UK carrier. LS16 also said an Irish destination, and Belfast is Northern Irish, so therefore a UK destination, unless any of that was a misunderstanding.

FlyBe would seem the logical airline, and for the reason mentioned above as well as the fact that they already fly to Belfast City, then I would rule this out as a destination.

I'll have a stab at Leeds - Cork as being the 'new' route with FlyBe.

Been discussing this with a friend of mine, and were saying jet2.com. What we said is that Jet2 will announce a Leeds - Cork route, as they already operate to cork from Newcastle with the axing of Dusseldorf. The Reason i said Dusseldorf is that someone i know has done a few legs of this route and she said every time she been on board there never been more than 40, 50 passengers tops. And if you ask me that for a 149 seater aircraft isn't make much profit.

Another one i was thinking of is Flybe. They could be introducing either Donegal, with Loganair, or Knock with the axing of Aberdeen.

I must admit, I did think of Jet2 after putting FlyBe due to their Newcastle - Cork flight, but I would be GUTTED if they axed DUS, it is one of the routes that I fly on the most these days, but it does seem to consistently be their lowest fare from LBA and that combined with up and down loads can't be good.

I'd be interested to know what the average loads were on this flight. That would leave LBA with only Weeze via Ryanair, which is NOT Dusseldorf, it's miles away, and for me would result in a trip over the Pennines and a flight to Cologne / Bonn with German Wings, as much of my time I'm in Cologne for business anyway.

I really wish a budget German carrier would come into LBA and open up the country a bit more.

Yeah i know how you mean. I was hoping a carrier like Air Berlin would come into LBA, good airline, know for being reliable.

Well I would say if it's Flybe it will be Exeter for the chop with Knock as the replacement.

If it's Jet2 I would say Belfast Int for the chop with Cork as the replacement. Dusseldorf doesn't do too bad most of the time. Belfast and Amsterdam are the big under performers as far as I can tell.

I wonder if BMI Regional might can Edinburgh and bring Copenhagen back?

I think it will be one of the Aberdeen/Exeter sectors replaced with cork or maybe Knock?

I don't think Jet2 will drop DUS, yes it has pretty poor loads mid week around 50/60 passengers but Thursday/Friday/Sunday it goes with around 100, often more. Ryanair Dusseldorf doesn't do much better, it had 22 on it last week one day!

Its on a subscription only service ATI.

6 new routes from Flybe:

BHX-WAT daily 25th March
NCL-BGO 3 weekly 25th March
NCL-NQY 1 weekly 5th May
LBA-NOC 3 weekly 5th May
BHD-NQY 1 weekly 5th May
SOU-TUF 2 weekly 16th May

All announced tomorrow.

So what about the dropped route rumour I wonder? If it is Exeter, does that mean that Aberdeen might get sorted out to become a proper service and possibly passed over to Loganair to operate?

Any news about Kefalonia or Santorini? Don't seem to appear on Thomas Cook web-site aznymore.

LbaYorkie

Looks like its across the hill again this year for me. No Kefalonia or Santorini- despite the suggestion there may be.

LaYorkie

LBAYorkie, these two routes did appear on the Thomas Cook bookings on their website, but has since been removed. To my knowledge these two routes were due to fill in gaps in the TCX timetable, but I believe they have been replaced with services to already existing destinations.

I have just looked back on the TCX website and they are taking bookings for the following destinations:

Ibiza
Majorca
Menorca
Gran Canaria
Tenerife
Larnaca
Crete
Zante
Antalya
Dalaman

Sorry it's slightly off-topic for the rumours thread.

With the Chinese olympic being based in Leeds. What are the chances of a Chinese airline like Air China or China Southern operating from LBA?

None I would suspect - they may be in Leeds but I wouldn't mind a bet they will fly into Manchester or Heathrow and be bussed to Leeds.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
