Well it's good that they've increased Geneva it looks like they've used Berlin's Tuesday slot and given it to Geneva. Surprised they haven't fitted in Venice but maybe they haven't got the room for it.
With Munich and Milan it'll be interesting to see how they fill their previous Wednesday slots if at all they do.

Winter 18/19

The beginning of this season is nearly eight months away. Plenty of time for revision in the light of future information and circumstances. The current gaps might well be deliberate breathing space for Flybe to decide how best to fill them going forward.

This is what the aircraft schedules are currently for each day from a week in mid December 2018. The first time is the departure time from CWL and the second time is the arrival time back at CWL. Though there are gaps in the schedule none of them are major though if the schedules are re timed there is the potential to fit in some extra flights. Only obvious gap is Saturday afternoon where for Aircraft 1 there is no flight after 15.00.

I'll be ticking Murrayfield off this list at the end of the month! Wales Online have done an article stating 5 rugby pilgrimages that you can do from Cardiff Airport with Flybe. The list is as follows but they also have alternatives.
1. Dublin Aviva Stadium with Galway and Connachts Sportsground as an alternative.
2. Belfast Kingspan Stadium with Ballymena Rugby club's Eaton Park as an alternative.
3. Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium with Glasgow's Scotscoun Stadium as an alternative.
4. Paris Stade de France with Montpellier's Altrad Stadium as an alternative.
5. Rome Stadio Olimpico with Treviso's Stadio Di Monigo as an alternative.

These figures make no sense to me. Am I missing something?

After opening its new base, Flybe rapidly became the airline operating the most flights out of Cardiff Airport by tapping into the 7.7 million people living within a comfortable two hour drive radius, realising a 130% increase in passenger numbers to the end of 2017, with an approximate 50/50 split between inbound and outbound customers.

If we take it the article refers to all passengers at CWL (I don't think it does but it's not abundantly clear) the rise between June 2015, when Flybe opened its CWL base, and the end of 2017 is nowhere near 130%. In June 2015 the 12-month rolling figure was 1,012,675 and at the end of 2017 was 1,464,180, a rise of nearly 44.6% (still very impressive percentage-wise but a long way off 130%).

If, on the other hand, the 130% relates to Flybe then I'm still puzzled. Immediately prior to June 2015 Flybe was only operating BHD, JER and DUS from CWL. Although it's not possible to ascertain the June 2015 12-month rolling figure for these routes it is possible to obtain the annual passengers numbers. In 2015 the figures for BHD were 41,862 and in 2014 41,006. The figures for JER were respectively 9,434 and 7, 926, and for DUS 6,123 and 2,459.

A figure of 41,500 for BHD, 8,750 for JER and 4,000 for DUS might therefore not be an unreasonable estimation of Flybe's CWL passenger numbers in the 12 months to June 2015 - a total of 54,250.

A 130% rise on 54,250 gives 70,525 - a total of just under 125,000. So if the 130% increase does relate solely to Flybe it means that in 2017 Flybe carried around 125,000 passengers through CWL which is plainly nonsense. It was far more than that.

Or am I missing something? I can't see what.

On the routes that Flybe operated 458,758. Considering they share the Faro route with Ryanair, Dublin will be distorted by the Six Nations and football and Milan, Verona and Rome by the Champions League even if you take the 58,758 off that they should be carrying at least 400,000 passengers out of Cardiff Airport in 2017. I've not included the Eastern Airways routes because the franchise didn't start till October.
The actual growth is more like 600% on what they were carrying in 2015 so what the 130% is related to i honestly don't know.

The total of the routes that Flybe operated in 2016 was 440,275 so even if over 50,000 was taken off as Dublin was shared with Aer Lingus and there would've been rugby flights to Dublin and to France that year it still leaves the yearly total at roughly 390,000 so the growth wouldn't been nowhere near 130%.
