Southend forum talking about the A320 neo will be weight restricted at southend due to the engines heavier,
I imagine then that Southend would be the last base to see the A319s go and then get upgraded to A320ceo and anyway even if the A320neo has to be weight limited the furthest they go fly is Lanzarote and Tenerife and the neo 15% more fuel efficient and has the range at max weight to cross the Atlantic and the distance of Lanzarote and Tenerife is only half way on a TATL flight so i'd be surprised if it couldn't make those destinations from Southend.
I think with the brexit airlines are waiting to see how things pan out as all very uncertain.
All airlines will be making contingency plans for Brexit and yes there is uncertainty but that will probably make airlines more cautious with their future plans. In the end people will still need to fly from and to the UK.

Just seen an interesting post on Facebook. It was a complaint but one I think is kind of positive.
A passenger on the morning arrival from Dublin today said there off loading got held up because the flight was full and there was only 1 transfer bus available to take the passengers to Eire and Channel islands arrivals so they had a delay disembarking. He also commented that he choose Cardiff over Bristol because the flights were cheaper. It looks like the airport may need to get another transfer bus!

Cheaper than Ryanair. Crikey, MOL won't like that. They always boast about having the cheapest flights.

At the airport now for my flight to the US. Really busy here this morning! Had to queue for food for a good 15 mins! Check in and security were a breeze! And looks like Duty free is busy as well. One poor guy though will be in the doghouse for his holiday as he dropped his baby on the steps up to departures! The baby is thankfully ok! Though I don't think his ears are after the rollicking he got! Lol
Quite a few international passengers as well not only using KLM but Flybe as well mixing with the families off to PMI and IBZ. So all good for the airport and so far a good passenger experience.

have a good journey hope the vacation goes all right and enjoy.
At the moment I haven't left Cardiff as there is a big delay at AMS due to fog so looks like a big delay for me! I'll get there eventually and still enjoy it!

They deboarded us and deboarded us so hopefully that means we'll be departing soon enough! Captain has just said about 9.20 departure from CWL! Fingers crossed! Lol

Cardiff Airport has it's first flight to Iceland. Superbreak.com are selling a 3 night package to Iceland.
There will be direct flights to Akureyri with the departure on the Friday 12th January 2018 at 08.30 with the return on Monday 15th January 2018 at 15.30.
Hopefully this will be a success and encourage them back for 2019 and maybe to offer more from Cardiff Airport.

Cardiff Airport is on the list of attendees of the 23rd World Route Development Forum that will be held in Barcelona on the 23rd to 26th September. In attendance will be 261 airlines with 27 of the top 30 airlines in the world will be taking part in the event. All of the top 10 airlines in the world will be attending so hopefully the airports route development team may be able to persuade a few airlines to launch routes from CWL or even codeshare with based airlines like Flybe.

Cardiff Airport have released their 2017/18 winter timetable. Most of it is known but the extras are there will be 3 Lapland flights to Ivalo on 7/12/17 departing at 07.30 provided by Santas Lapland (Hotelplan), Enontekio on 16/12/17 departing at 07.00 provided by Transun and Pajala on 17/12/17 departing at 07.00 provided by Newmarket Holidays. There is also a flight to a cruise flight to Bergen 4/3/18 departing at 14.30 provided by Hurtigruten.

The biggest highlight of the winter schedule will the 9 long haul flights to the Caribbean. There will be 6 flights to Bridgetown Barbados, 4 on behalf of P&O cruises (Thomson is believed to be the airline) and 2 from Thomson and 3 to Montego Bay Jamaica from Thomson.

I hope the Caribbean flights don't get scaled back after recent events with people not booking. As terrible as the winds have been in the region, the Caribbean is used to hurricanes and they're a resilient bunch.

I can't see that being a problem. Do you know how the Caribbean flights compare with last winter in terms of numbers?

I can't see the hurricanes effecting it. Caribbean wise the amount of flights are the same just to 2 different destinations. There were 9 to Barbados 5 for P&O 4 for Thomson and no Jamaica flights. We are missing the Dubai flights this year though.

Winter 2016/17 CWL had 12 long haul flights 9 to Barbados 2 to Dubai and 1 to Orlando. It's down to 9 for this winter as TOM are no longer offering Dubai and TCX stopped the Orlando flights because of expansion at MAN. In all not bad for an airport that doesn't even see 1.5 million passengers through its doors!

P&O Cruises will be offering 4 cruises to the Caribbean from Cardiff Airport for winter 2018/19, all flights are to Barbados and back.
16 November 2018 to 30th November
8th December 2018 to 22nd December
11th January 2019 to 25th January 2019
16th February 2019 to 2nd March 2019
The airline isn't stated but I'd take a guess and say it was Thomson Airways.

Interesting talk this morning on BBC Radio Wales with Roger Lewis, A few points that were brought up:

. Active talks on going with airline over North America, Florida is the main target but also New York, 2019 was talked about as a potential timeline for these flights

. With the arrival of Qatar, the airport is putting more pressure over the devolution of APD

. A significant investment of " two million" pounds will be invested over the winter into the airport, a completely different set up and layout was talked about in terms of the facilities ( investment in Food outlets, shops etc) mentioned of a few new franchises being brought in, quality, cost and range should improve as well as keeping queue times to a minimum.

. Work on the widening and straightening of five mile lane will begin, Talks over various other transport links including the possibility of the M4 junction 34 ( being discussed) with info in a previous article about the proposals ( http://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/business-news/100m-m4-cardiff-airport-link-13316762)

. Also improving transport links with the west, Swansea, Bridgend, Port Talbot, Llanelli, Carmarthen etc

The link to the show is underneath and beings around 1:09 into the programme:

Interesting interview, will be interesting to see what the departure area looks like at the end of it's latest revamp and hopefully expansion. I would hope to see a McDonalds/Burger King type franchise in the airport and i also wonder if a Gregg's one would be possible. Another part will be the service offered in the lounge i'd imagine it would get a hot food service.
An airline to the US by 2019? I'd be surprised if it was an US3. For New York the obvious contender would be Norwegian but could they also be talking to Primera? A based MAX aircraft from Primera could also be used on routes like say Malta or IBZ or LPA depending on the long haul schedule. Orlando though would require a wide body though and the only contenders i can think of would be Thomson and Thomas Cook as i can't see Norwegian launching wide body services in the UK outside of London.
One thing i was surprised about in the interview was that Flybe's service to Faro wasn't mentioned and the fact that Ryanair's Faro service is 2 weekly and with Flybe Faro is 6 weekly or that Flybe would be increasing many of it's frequencies on many routes next year.
With the mentioned possible new terminal building in the future CWL's future does seem promising.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
