I had seen on another forum that a senior figure at DSA said that long haul routes would be announced from DSA on Monday (tomorrow) they were also linking this to TUI so there could be legs in that? The only stumbling block for me with that is their LH ops at BRS

It’s the wrong time really for LCC news with summer schedules now live and winter already released. More routes from FR/VY or even bases could be a outside shot!

Mine
- Long Haul charter although possibly too early for TUI which is 5th April. I thought they always used to release LH before SH but no mention of split dates.
- Flybe 4th aircraft for S19 (but likely no confirmed routes/frequencies just yet)
- Vueling upping frequencies - Didn't they announce frequency increases around this time of the year before?
May be a coincidence but Doncaster is rumoured to be making a long haul announcement tomorrow and the likeliest candidate would be TUI for that so i do wonder if TUI could be introducing Orlando?
Looking at the tweet I'd say it would be a new route rather than frequency increase or a based aircraft.
Not sure Flybe would announce a 4th based aircraft for 2019 just yet.

Watch this space. (y)

They don't seem to have a problem operating Barbados and Jamaica from Cardiff. I think Orlando is one route that can operate from both.

I wonder if it’s true whether a Dreamliner will be based on severnside and operate from BRS on ‘X’ days and CWL ‘Y’ ?

I've seen some twitter posts about some companies providing some goods, but i'm sure Tuesday was mentioned which I believe coincides with the launch of Venice?
This announcement is concerning something "Very exciting" tomorrow, but does say "one of our Airlines", so guess it's no new Airline
Let our imaginations go wild.... any thoughts?

It's quite weird because CWL retweeted something a a day or two back with some saying they was working on something for Tuesday, but tomorrow is Monday?

It's more than likely flybe related I'd of thought. Although i'd like to be surprised with some sort of Vueling announcement, or Ryanair.

This one is a rather exciting one guys (if it’s what has been in the pipeline for sometime now) !

Tomorrow should be interesting.

I believe that is to do with the launch of the Venice route. In another tweet they linked Flybe in.

They operate 5 Dreamliner flights from Bristol so there could be 2 days free for CWL routes.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bristol gets full based 787. If DSA is included as well it will probably be shared between CWL and DSA, and somewhere else if it's only small number of flights a week at each.

I know that during an ACC metting last year it was mentioned that CWL was attempting to encourage Vueling to base at the airport.

I will be pleasantly surprised if it's regarding Ryanair adding new routes.

I know it was mentioned that talks were being made regarding a 4th Flybe aircraft so maybe the wrong time of the year for a confirmation of that investment.

One thing is certain that exciting news for a current carrier at CWL in my opinion should be a new route rather than route increases.

Another possibility could be Qatar Airways upgrading the route to an A350?

With the fan fare CWL are making tonight, for your general non aviation enthusiast. That would be a massive underwhelming announcement. From their social media reaction, you would assume it was something 'big and substantial'

All this wouldn't be happening just to announce a upgrade of aircraft type or ALC going daily with VY for example surely?

Agreed. Going to an A350 wouldn't mean dip to a lot of people. If it was the A380 (obviously never in a million years going to happen), this would be something to shout about.

Well it's from one of the carriers operating from the airport. Rule out KLM and Qatar straight away as there's nothing to be changed. Only really exciting thing that could from KLM would be 4 daily flights. I'm also going to rule out Eastern so would put my money with Vueling, Flybe or Ryanair. Wildcard: Thomas Cook.

KLM aren't using the E190's much through CWL, which would need to come before any 4th daily flight.
Having heard rumour of it a few weeks back, it will more than likely be long haul from TUI.

29 MARCH
Cardiff Airport is set for a cracking Easter Weekend
Wales’ national airport is set to welcome more than 16,000 egg-cited customers over this Easter bank holiday weekend (30 March- 2 April), around 1,000 more than last Easter.

The top customer choice is Amsterdam – an ideal weekend destination for a city break and a connecting hub for customers flying onwards to long haul destinations such as New York, Miami, Toronto and Orlando with KLM. The airline is also set to celebrate 30 years of flying customers to the world from Cardiff in May.

The Easter break also marks the official start of the summer season at Cardiff Airport, with many airlines whisking customers off in search of some early Spring sunshine, including Vueling with flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma Majorca.

Flybe, whose base at Cardiff is now in its third summer, along with its airline franchise partners, now offers a whopping 21 destinations to choose from including Jersey, Verona, Dusseldorf, Cork and Milan Malpensa.

Top 10 destinations for Easter 2018:

Amsterdam (KLM)

Malaga (Vueling/TUI)

Paris Charles de Gaulle (Flybe)

Rome Fiumicino (Flybe)

Munich (Flybe)

Berlin Tegel (Flybe)

Venice (Flybe)

Faro (Flybe/TUI/Ryanair)

Dublin (Flybe)

Jersey (Flybe)

Deb Barber, Chief Executive Officer at Cardiff Airport, said: “Our airlines are offering more destinations than ever this Easter with many new routes on offer, including Venice with Flybe. Whether you fancy a short city break or a week away in the warmth the Easter break is a wonderful opportunity for people in Wales to fly from their local airport for a well-earned trip away.

“As the summer season of flying gets underway, we look forward to Iberia Express’ return with flights to Madrid, speciality charters with Super Break to Montenegro, Croatia and the Adriatic Coast and, of course, daily flights to Doha with Qatar Airways from the first of May”.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
