737.
Cardiff won't be seeing any 757s in the near future as they are slowly being phased out and would complicate crew training to start up a mixed base again.
On a facebook page a TUI employee confirmed it's down as all 737.
Reason why i asked is that someone on the dried fruit forum claimed that the Corfu flight for Bournemouth was going to be operated by a 757 and that flight is operated by a CWL aircraft on Fridays so i wanted to fin out a way to confirm the 737.

Winter 2019 goes onsale on the 8th November along with selected Summer 2020.
Fingers crossed that their summer growth translates into winter growth as well! The long haul part will be curious as well to see if they expand that.

I don't know why but it looks the 16.00 Dalaman flight is returning to Cardiff. According to FR24 it got as far as Salzburg and turned around and is currently over London.

New Winter route for Welsh sunseekers from Cardiff Airport

  • TUI UK introduces new winter route to Hurghada, Egypt
  • Increase of almost 7,000 seats
  • Early sale of summer 2020 programme will launch 8th November
2nd NOVEMBER 2018 – Today TUI UK, the UK’s largest holiday operator, launches its Winter 2019 programme and reveals growth plans for Cardiff Airport, with a new weekly route to Hurghada for the season.
On sale now, the Winter 2019 programme will continue to offer holidaymakers in South Wales more choice and flexibility than ever before, with an increased capacity of nearly 7,000 additional seats at Cardiff Airport.
Continuing to recognise that not everyone wants to holiday for 7 or 14 nights, customers will also have the option of 10 and 11 night holidays to Malaga in Spain towards the end of next Winter.
The introduction of the new route is part of TUI’s strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels in some of the most exciting destinations around the world, including TUI flagship properties such as the TUI Sensimar Makadi Gardens in Hurghada.
TUI UK’s Director of Aviation Planning Karen Switzer said: “Adding more choice and flexibility for the Winter 2019 season demonstrates our commitment to Cardiff Airport and the local area, as we continue to focus on expanding access to our amazing range of holidays through an extended flying programming concentrated on the core destinations that we know our customers want to visit.”
Cardiff Airport’s CEO, Deb Barber said: “TUI UK knows what our customers want and offers a wealth of options all year round. From family summer getaways to Spain, Turkey, Greece among many, to fly-cruise breaks sailing the Mediterranean and Caribbean, not to mention winter sun holidays to destinations including The Canary Islands.
“What’s more, TUI UK recognises the considerable potential at Cardiff Airport, having already announced 100,000 extra seats and a further three new flights to Hurghada in Egypt, Naples in Italy and Dubrovnik in Croatia for the upcoming Summer 2019 season.
“Today’s announcement is so exciting for us and I know our customers will be delighted to see Winter holidays to Egypt available to book so far in advance. It’s brilliant to see the UK’s largest holiday operator going from strength to strength at Cardiff Airport.”
For the first time ever, TUI will also be selling Summer 2020 holidays from early November – the earliest the tour operator has sold a summer programme. This is to provide customers that want to secure their favourite hotels or preferred flight options earlier than ever before. TUI customers will also be offered thousands of free kids places and offers on all of the TUI favourite hotel concepts including Family Life, Sensatori, Splashworld, Holiday Village and Suneo Club.

Will be interesting to see if it actually operates. As it was supposed to be operating this winter and they dropped it. Nothing onsale yet so no hint in whether CWL will be 2 aircraft base for winter 2019.

I don't know if they did this last year but TUI are offering Faro through the winter using Flybe's flights and they are also using Vuelings flights to Malaga from what i can see.

Having conversations with fellow passengers on Vueling flights to and from Malaga, Tui have been placing some of their customers on Vueling for the last couple of years.

I knew they did it in the summer just didn't realise that they did it in the winter as well.

A quick look at winter 2019 for TUI suggests 1 based aircraft. It looks like Paphos will operate in November and December and then restart on the 26th February. Hurghada on Mondays looks like it's on the based aircraft but Tenerife looks like it's on a non based aircraft. So something to keep an eye on there.
The rest of it looks unchanged.
Long haul wise it looks like there will be 3 Barbados flights but only 2 Jamaica flights.

Just to summarise my previous post.
Tenerife will be 3 weekly with 1 away based flight
Malaga 1 weekly but 2 weekly in April with an away based flight.
Gran Canaria will be 1 weekly
Alicante will be 2 weekly
Hurghada will be 1 weekly
Paphos will be 1 weekly except January and February
Lanzarote will be 2 weekly
So 11 weekly flights in November, December and March, 10 weekly in January and February and 12 weekly in April.
5 long haul flights to the Caribbean from TUI between December and April.

It appears the CWL-CFU-BOH-CFU-CWL that’s down to operate for S19; won’t be happening for S20!

CFU will be operated by a BOH based aircraft, leaving a gap for something else to operate from CWL

Just had a quick look at summer 2020 and it does look a carbon copy of 2019 which is actually good as the 3rd based is staying along with the new routes and extra frequencies on other routes.
With no W pattern to BOH it'll be interesting to see if they either expand a route like Dalaman or Antalya or introduce a new route.
A new route would be nice!

I think they should increase frequency as the holiday market is changing so much. People no longer want to go on holiday for one week or two they want to be as flexible as possible.

That is generally what they are doing. The basing of the 3rd aircraft does allow them to offer not only 7 and 14 nights holidays but 10 and 11 nights as well so it will be interesting to see if they add frequency on another route and which route that would be. If they were though to add a route my best guess would be Bodrum but I'd love to see something like Marrakech instead! We'll probably have to wait until April though to find out!

It's possible the aircraft could be G-TUIK for Bridgetown tomorrow.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
