Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
I've been through MAN 4 times since my last trip report (mid Sep) - twice each through T2 & T3.
I haven't the time at the moment to go into detail, but I did notice an improvement in both cleanliness (except the T2 toilets!) and adequate staffing at check in, security and ground handlers...so well done MAG/MAN and I hope it continues through the winter season and into next summer!

Morning all

This mornings Emirates A380 service is now cancelled as one of the emergency shutes deployed when crew were shutting the door. It seems to be the First class cabin as the airbridge is the second one on a higher level.

Cheers from Bilko.

Please read and comment there...
This is really quite a big change so I would appreciate more feedback from everyone. If very few people share there thoughts I can only presume most people are happy. We need to make the right decision.

Interesting development for Jet2, they are taking over the facility in Cheadle Heath once run by Boeing for flight deck, cabin crew and engineering training

Does Terminal 2 have a car park for pick ups? I'm picking my sister up in the morning from the airport and wondering if there was a specific car park i can use?

The new multi storey (T2 West) is designated for picking up. Be prepared for the cost though.

Follow the signs; from the M56 junction you need to drive all the way past all of T2 and turn left at the last roundabout. The entrance is around the back up what looks like a service road.

Ok! Thanks!

You don't have to pay £20 of course. With a phone call when arriving passengers have collected their bags, they can walk to the pick up area in T2 West and the charge is £6 for up to 30 minutes. You need to park up initially away from the airport but that can be done towards Heald Green or Styal with a 10 minutes drive to the T2 pick up. A less salubrious meeting point than the arrivals hall but cheaper.

Yep it wasn't cheap! £20! Was only there just over an hour. But it wasn't a long walk too the Terminal and i have too the arrivals hall is very nice!
Good. Was about to ask if you found it.

But £20. Daylight robbery. I assume you couldn’t resist the temptation to have a nosey though !

Have just come through Gatwick airport North terminal we’re they are trailing some of the security lanes with the new scanners where you don’t have to take anything out of your hand luggage, I can confirm it’s an absolute dream!
Very few rejections and passengers sailing through, it was 2 mins from entrance to exit for me personally!

Unsure how it’s decided which airports will test these new security scanners and rules but it’s a shame MAN wasn’t included!

Luckily the requirement is to have them installed by June 2024, so only a little over a year and all airports in the UK should have them.

Hopefully the EU, US and everywhere else follow suit.

I hope I am on the right thread, but please move if not.
I spent a couple of days on the South side this week and noticed the new "executive Terminal", next to the viewing park, was not in use. Anyone know why not, please.

Demand collapsed when Covid hit.

but with passenger numbers and routes now back up, surely the question is will it re-open?

They would need to acquire a new fleet of limos and set aside staff to run the place. How high a priority do they see it as being?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
