Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

The new range of muffins in the cafe are very nice. The Bassetts Allsorts one in particluar.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

The new shoe shop in departures is expected to open very soon. It is to be called Stress Less Journey. I'm not convinced that opening it just as we're about to go into our quietest winter for many years is a good idea. Hopefully they will manage to see it through until the mad summer rush starting at the end of March.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Quieter yes, but also more exotic!! I know a lass who will be working in the new shop, and it will be selling stuff like sandals and flip-flops.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

That should do quite well with the holiday passengers - possibly with the PIA passengers too!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Good news, sounds like a sound development. Does anyone know where its going to be positioned in the terminal, and when work will begin? LBA needs to learn from this `new venture` and try to attract outlets such as Subway or a KFC to the airside lounge next. Maybe something may come with the terminal development??

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

I hope we get a subway, i always grab one when iam flying from LPL and crew and airport staff all get discount!!! Fab!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

I cannot face Subway after an unpleasant surprise whilst using the Headingley branch one time, so I personally wont be using them if they do turn up at the airport!

The new Stress Less Journey store is now open.It looks OK sat on the right hand side of the departure area as you get to the top of the escalators. It's very small but they are apparently looking at opening a second store somewhere else in the terminal. I don't know if it's going to be another store on the ground floor of departures or a store landside.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

I dont think i want to know what you got in your Subway Aviador, am gessing it wasnt a jalapeno lol. Toooo spicyyyyyy. Hot Hot! lol

Stress Less, what a name for a shoe shop. The Flying Flip Flop would have bin better. Oh well, one needs new flip flops for a trip to Gran Can soon with FR via LPL alas. I shall have to investigate.

They're all there, whatever takes your fancy. ...and they have a store at Liverpool as well so your in luck!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

That "shop" if you can call it a shop, is more of a medium sized stall IMO. It looks okay, as its something different and bright, but it is so small, and there is only so many Crocs they can sell...

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

If you see a very nice young lass working there...hands off..I saw her first!!!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Did she used to work at the Albert?

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

She still does. Might be in tonight if we are lucky!!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Now you've all stopped purving....

I spoke to a member of SSP who claims they will not be reopening the Cafe on the first floor of the Food Village. So it looks like the outlet is to remain closed until after the terminal development.

The area has been tarted-up slightly for the summer using the Yates brand.

Airside, both the Danby Bar and the Cafe upstairs have now been slightly improved with extended seating areas.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

I suppose the new LBA exec lounge should get a mention here. The airport has taken over the Servisair lounge and is currently refurbishing the lounge and extending it. Around the corner the StressLess shoe shop has been given a slight makeover so it looks more like a shop now. I don't know how well it's doing but I've yet to see a passenger in there. I'm sure the shop has it's place at the airport but I'm not convinced it's either large enough or in the right location to make it a success. I just hope they can hold out until the terminal work is done.

Thats right, the airport officially had control of the premises as of Midnight last night. Building work has already started by the Wood-Mitchell company, with a tigh deadline to meet. The airport want the lounge to open in two weeks time, the exact date being 13th July. It is said to of cost £400,000 for the whole thing. Now is this a part of the £28M expansion plans?

Every time i walk past that shoe shop the poor girl is just plumped in her little chair in the corner reading a magazine. I too have yet to see a passenger in the shop, nevermind see someone actually buy something!

It's nice to see the airports 'new pink-purple colour scheme in the new Premier Lounge. I can't see the cream coloured carpet surviving the test of time once it's had a few glasses of red wine spilt on it.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
