Flying out from LBA week Friday, can anyone tell me if any of the retail outlets offer a "meal deal"?
Thanks in anticipation.

Not 100% but Camden food hall is your best bet seasider.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Nice video, just a shame they had to use airport employees in some of the clips rather than real customers!

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Nice video but ruined by the kid in the Man U shirt. Yorkshire this Yorkshire that I don’t know.

The great thing about children is that they still have time to learn....

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Kid should be wearing a bfd city shirt ..what do you say white heather..lol after leeds performance today?.

could be a local derby next season?

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

No comment! :) (No strikers either). Still, we remain in the Championship - one whole division above Bradford City, who I understand also tried quite hard to lose today. Must be something in the water in Yorkshire that stops teams from performing at football. It appears to have spread to Old Trafford too - every cloud has a silver lining. :)

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Was the unlucky Yorkshire mascot in the crowd.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

I understand construction has started on a new airside outdoor smoking area. It will come at a cost for smokers so I wonder how many will still resort to illegally smoking in the toilets.

Re: Leeds Bradford - Retail Thread

Or outside the Servisair Cargo shed, where judging by the number of 'tab ends' is where much of this smoking takes place.

Some more good news about World Duty Free

World Duty Free Store at Leeds Bradford Airport wins 'Terminal of the year' and 'Manager of the year' 2013

10 December 2013

World Duty Free Group’s Annual Awards recognise the teams and individuals at Leeds Bradford Airport

World Duty Free Group (WDFG) operates the tax and duty free store at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA). Each year, the travel retailer hosts its own Awards event, to recognise outstanding achievements at both an individual and store level, across its UK operations and winners were announced at its Airport Partner Conference at the end of November.

To select the Award winners, a WDFG Steering Group Committee reviews all nominations, judging them on various criteria including the highest overall commercial return, outstanding front of store activity, joint activity with Airport Partners, Destination Targeting initiatives and greatest KPI achievements.

The World Duty Free store at Leeds Bradford won ‘Terminal of the Year’ in the ‘Small Store Category’ and also the award for ‘Manager of the Year’. This coveted award went to World Duty Free store manager Steve Jones, in recognition of his passion, commitment and innovative approach. Steve consistently delivered great sales results and demonstrated a real drive to improve staff engagement, as well as fostering great relationships with the Leeds Bradford team.

Speaking about the Awards Mark Sowerby, Head of Retail Operations at WDFG said, “The dedication and passion demonstrated by all the award entrants this year was sensational and events like this give us an important opportunity to recognise great achievements and celebrate success. Particular congratulations go to the team at LBA and store manager Steve Jones – the team’s drive, innovation and achievements are a great example for us all and their awards are extremely well deserved”.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s Aviation Development & Marketing Director, said: “I am delighted that the World Duty Free store at Leeds Bradford has been recognised as ‘Terminal of the Year’ in its category. It’s important for us to offer passengers fantastic pre-flight facilities and World Duty Free is testament to that. Congratulations to the store manager Steve Jones who not only heads up the best store but was also awarded ‘Manager of the Year’ for the fantastic job that he does.”

Anybody else heard the rumours about a Frankie & Benny's opening soon at the airport?

Re: Leeds Bradford Infrastructure & Developments

I'm sure a few people on here, including myself, received an email today from LBA regarding Summer 2016 routes/flights. Near the bottom of the email there is mention of a new Cargo Travel Essentials shop.

I don't recall seeing this when I last passed through LBA departures about a month ago, so I'm curious to know if I blindly walked past it and would be grateful if anyone can advise where it is located? From the photo on the email, it looks like it could be located where WH Smiths are (or used to be?) at the bottom of the escalators by the ground floor gates.

Re: Retail, Food & Drinks

ChurchFenton, I can confirm that the Cargo shop did indeed replace WH Smith. It sells pretty much a similar offering. The big difference is that Cargo is owned and operated by the airport itself.

Re: Retail, Food & Drinks

Thanks for clarifying, White Heather. Was about 6 months ago when I last used the ground floor gates, will take a little look when I next fly out of LBA. Interesting that the airport is running its own shop (whilst we still have WH Smith upstairs in Departures opposite the Premier Lounge)

I'd seen it. It mentioned they are selling Yorkshire Tea. Great idea but I wish they would expand of the Yorkshire produce theme. Yorkshire has so much to offer and it would be a great selling point to have a dedicated Yorkshire Produce Shop not just for tourists but also for people wanting to take a little bit of home away with them.

This picture is of the Canary Island Shop selling local produce. A similar kind of shop would work really well from LBA, not just for tourists, but for ex-pats heading home and for people visiting Yorkshire on domestic flights wanting to take a a bit of Yorkshire home with them.

Here are the sort of things a LBA shop could sell...

A damning review of The Saltare pub and eatery at Leeds Bradford Airport by The Yorkshire Evening Post.

The review describing the bar as "oppressive, allowing in a hubbub of noise and depriving customers of the intimacy of conversation." It goes on to say, "It’s as charming as a shopping centre, as frantic as Accident and Emergency on a Saturday night."

I laughed reading the review because it is pretty much how we felt about the bar. I did feel the write up was a little over the top though as it doesn't take into account that the airport has made the best of the space it has. If the airport carried out the columists suggestion of installing segregating walls it would only increase the stuffy claustrophobic feeling the building creates by its low ceiling.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
