I'd expect the shuttle buses would need to wait 15-20 minutes at the station?

They need to arrive 10 minutes before the train scheduled arrival time. This gives a couple of minutes to empty the bus of all passengers including luggage, a minute for passengers to walk to station building and orientate themselves (work out which platform etc), five minutes to use 2x lifts with luggage and cross bridge, three minutes for all passengers to board with luggage. This assumes all passengers buy tickets before boarding shuttle.

Meanwhile arriving passengers getting off same train will then need time to alight with luggage, use 2x lifts and find way to bus, load luggage etc. Presumably taking 5-10 minutes further until shuttle sets off back to terminal.

The document states 5 minute journey time so in total 10 minutes travelling and 15-20 minutes waiting at the station.

Approx 30 minute round trip.

And how long does it take for passengers with luggage to get on the bus at Leeds station? The same applies. I have been stood there waiting for well over 8 minutes to load up, especially with foreigners scrabbling around for change.

True, but by the same logic this would happen when boarding the train in Leeds too. However it's not relevant since it's before the journey starts, not during the middle of it. Therefore it doesn't add to the total journey time...

I thought i did mention a line linking Guiseley to the airport eventually. Also if the new Parkway rail station is built, and I hope it is, then it would be serving the airport long before any "mass Transport scheme would be up and running. Of course a tram linking Bradford to Guiseley and to the airport then on to the Parkway Station would be a great asset.

I think the doc does mention the airport, but not clear on how it would serve it yet (ie to Parkway or Yeadon or terminal).

Another consultation....I have a weird sense of deja vu. As a region we talk about it ( we are good at that), maybe it will go to central government, someone there will then come up with a legal or technical reason why it won't work or maybe it will simply cost too much once they've scoped it all out and then its back to square 1, yet again. And then, finally, nothing will be done but another, similar, strategy will then be suggested, this time perhaps including provision for electric bikes , and its back on the roller coaster again.

All they'll do is talk about it. I see no real good change coming. Unless we get a decent Mayor with a backbone to get the funding and stuff done. I suspect I'll be retired before we have the transport infrastructure I envision a metropolitan area such as Leeds & wider region require and deserve.

Just seen the route map and it does at least include the airport eventually, but looks like it's a long way off and they say some routes won't necessarily be trams. Some will be bus operated but seperated from other traffic. So the airport on the map doesn't necessarily mean a tram to the airport.

I can't help thinking though that we had a Supertram turned down in Leeds alone, with 4 lines, as it was too expensive. Now we are going for one linking Wakefield, Dewsbury, Bradford and Leeds, so God knows the cost even if they do use disused railway lines. The rolling stock alone to cover all routes at the required frequencies will cost a fortune. It's hard to see how they will get the funding for this. If they do, it will surely be the largest tram network in the UK and one of the biggest in Europe.

Somehow I can't see it happening, at least not in my lifetime.

In the meantime Edinburgh simply got on with it and built the tram system from the airport to the city centre! Cost overrun ? yes. Now getting on with the next stage - centre to the harbour area. Come on Leeds -you can do it.
But they built it with money diverted to Edinburgh from Leeds' cancelled tram. Our loss was Edinburgh's gain.

Well WH if you look a little behind the scene and you remember who was the Minister for Transport at the time. It was Alistaire Darling who just happened to be one of the MPs for Edinburgh at the time. I also remember that the amount of money withdrawn from Leeds was the same amount of cash that was given to fit out a box station on Cross Rail within a week or so of it's withdrawal.

White Heather, you may well be right in saying that money destined for Leeds went to Edinburgh's trams but I cannot see any evidence of that.
In 2003 Scottish Ministers agreed a sum of £375m, then in 2008 Scottish Govt agreed £500m. By 2010 Transport Scotland (Gov't) stated that the project should be no more than £545m. In the end it was nearer £800m.

The airport is the last planned route from what the news report said, ive heard it all before, in fact in the early 90s to be precise, never happen, lets move on..

In one thread you balme the lack of ATH route at LBA (a new route to that company) on the infrastructure. And then in this you say we should ignore it and move on. I get both threads of the argument but for someone who advocates the position the lack of airlines and routes is LBA lacking in infrastructure I surely thought, you of all people, would of been in support of this?

I understand your point of view ignoring it since the West Yorkshire leaders have been nothing but hot air for 30 years+.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
