I love the function that gives an hour by hour report on the aircraft movements and potential passenger totals. I can imagine this comes in useful for planning purposes such as staffing.

I agree Aviador, its a good website that would be a great website if it worked and it was updated! The Apron/Stand layout is fab and don't know of any other airport that provides this kind of tool, I am currently trying to get the airport to correct all the errors on it and update it to show the actual stands!

Eastern Apron:
Stand 6 is not showing, and there are error's on Stands 8, 9, 11 & 15L

Western Apron:
Three new stands have been constructed to the west of Stands 31, 32 & 33, which are the first 3 of 6 to be constructed on the Western Apron. Also there are error's with Stands 29R and 32

Stands 26N, 27, 28, no longer exist as they were lost as part of the Western Walkway (Gates 8-16) as Stands 21-26 are nose-in stands.

The latest Aircraft Parking/Docking Chart, dated June 2011 shows the Apron layout better, but this I guess will be updated shortly with the new stands on the western apron!

Stand 6 and 7 no longer exist, 6 is the location of the coaching lounge and 7 is an equipment bay.

The new walk way gates are 10-16 gate 16 serves stands 29L,30,30L/R gate 9 serves stand1 and could serve stand 2 back in the Air Southwest days of transit passengers.

Red Arrows

The Red Arrows made another visit to BRS around 1530 today that I was privileged to witness. They overflew the runway from the east in formation before climbing away to the north into a right-hand circuit after which they landed in fairly close order and parked on the southern apron.

They later performed a display at Portishead which is just to the south of Bristol on the Severn estuary.

An RAF Globemaster was practising circuits and approaches at BRS this lunchtime, having been engaged in similar manoeuvres earlier in the week.

Addendum (1315 16 June 2012)

The Red Arrows took part in the Queen's Official Birthday Buckingham Palace flypast a few minutes ago.

They spent the night parked at BRS and presumably flew to London from there.

Still no response from Alan Davies, I give him a few more days to reply!

I have emailed Alan Davies again this afternoon after getting no response to my previous email although I know that at least he read it!

I have also asked if I could possibly liaise with the IT department direct, so have asked for a contact name and email address to enable me to do this!

With any luck I may get somewhere, if not an email to Robert Sinclair will be on its way!

Just recieved an email from Alan, apoligising that he had not replied to me! He has been on holiday for the last two weeks, advised he is liaising with IT and hopes to get back to me before the end of the week!

alphagolf :good:

Many thanks for keeping us up to date, alphagolf.

Reply from Alan Davies this afternoon, reference the Apron Layout/Errors!

Andrew,

I’ve spoken to the IT team and they think they can fix this. However, they will have to prioritise it in with the rest of their workload so please bear with us. In the meantime they will annotate the apron layouts to identify them as under construction.

Regards,

Alan

Thank you again, alphagolf.

I have sent an email to NATS today asking them to provide me with an update as to when the Bristol Airport (EGGD) Aerodrome Chart and the Aircraft Parking/Docking Chart will be updated to reflect the new extended Western Apron with the 3 new stands!

Will update you all as and when I receive a response!

Gotta keep them all on their toes!

Cheers again alphagolf.

I note that Mayfly is still up to its old tricks - both This Week's and Next Week's show the week commencing 25 June.

Is there a list of airlines using Bristol airport, I've looked in the Overview thread and I can't see one?

All the scheduled carriers and their aircraft types are shown in Overview under Aircraft and Routes.

As for charter, I mentioned the based carriers (TOM and TCX) doing most of the charter work in summer 2012 with Air Malta and Balkan amongst the others (the only ones known when I updated the Overview in March).

I've just updated Overview further to include Austrian to Innsbruck and the short Alitalia season to Rome. I've also altered the heading Aircraft and Routes to Carriers, Aircraft and Routes as I realise the former heading was not sufficiently inclusive of the content.

As at many regional airports the shrinking of the charter market and consolidation of airlines has seen a marked reduction in the number of charter carriers serving BRS.

TOM and TCX now do the lion's share - they and their predecessor airlines were always very prominent but the Spanish, Turkish and Greek charter carriers (for instance) rarely visit BRS these days.

Winter does see one or two different airlines servicing BRS's large ski charter programme.

Whereas TOM and to a lesser extent TCX are pre-eminent last winter also saw weekly visits from Balkan (A320)to Sofia, bmibaby (B733)to Chambery and Geneva, Flybe (E195) to Lleida-Alguaire and Austrian (A321) to Innsbruck.

The previous winter saw Small Planet and Titan amongst the weekly ski charter carriers. Monarch has also featured in recent winters in the ski programme as has Jet2.

Received an email from NATS today advising that the new charts will be published on the 26th July, but they have provided me a link to view them now! New Aerodrome Chart and Aircraft Parking/Docking Chart are on page 173 & 174

Follow the link below to view not only BRS but updates for the rest of the UK too, hope you find it useful!

I echo Aviador's comment.

Red Arrows

The Red Arrows made another visit to BRS around 1530 today (15 June 2012) that I was privileged to witness. They overflew the runway from the east in formation before climbing away to the north into a right-hand circuit after which they landed in fairly close order and parked on the southern apron.

They later performed a display at Portishead which is just to the south of Bristol on the Severn estuary.

Five weeks after their last visit the Red Arrows were back at Bristol Airport today.

On a gloriously sunny, warm and cloud-free day they approached the airport over my head on Felton Common immediately to the east of the airport before breaking off into a circuit that saw them land in line and park on the southern apron.

I walked a couple of miles along the narrow country lanes to a point where I had a clear view of Weston-super-Mare about ten miles to the west beyond the wide Wrington Vale. At 1350 the Red Arrows took off from BRS and headed to Weston to take part in the town's two-day air event.

From my vantage point I had an excellent view of the display even though it was ten miles away. I never fail to be immensely impressed despite having seen their displays many times.

Afterwards they did a low flypast over BRS with the coloured trails pushed out to the rear of the aircraft, followed by a climbing circle right over the airport. They then broke off and appeared to position into the circuit to land again at the airport though I can't be certain as my view was obstructed by a low hill.

They normally appear at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta in August each year but this year they will be in Russia so won't be attending.

Quiet around here..............

It's been very, very quiet in recent months regarding any significant developments - or at least matters put into the public domain. I've no doubt the airport team is as busy as ever behind the scenes trying to make things happen.

This summer has seen busy in terms of passenger numbers with percentage increases in each of the last six months, ranging from 0.3% to 6.4%, and this year saw the busiest ever July, and the second busiest April, May and June - second only to the record-breaking 2008 (when the airport handled over 6.2 mppa)

The consultative committee minutes for the July meeting reiterate the excellent summer passenger throughput but also issue another reminder that the winter will be 'challenging'. Like many airports, the differential between summer and winter seems to widen every year.

The minutes mentioned the easyJet Copenhagen route and the Ryanair service to Warsaw Modlin, both due to start within the next couple of months, and confirmed that the Airbus services to (Toulouse and currently operated from Filton) will switch to BRS when the Filton runway closes at the end of this year.

There is no news yet of which airline has won the new contract to operate these flights - they are currently handled by bmiRegional with ERJ 145 aircraft (my comment).

The minutes stated that feedback from the Routes (Europe) Conference was 'positive'.

The minutes also confirmed that the series of Alitalia flights from Rome in July and August were in connection with Italian students attending the University of the West of England (or the University of Woe as some unkind souls sometimes dub it - the university prefers UWE, pronounced You-Wee) - (my comment within the brackets).

With Thomas Cook reducing their base size next summer from 2 x 320s to 1 x 320 it must be hoped that at least this gap is plugged in some way.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
